Vikas Mittal, CEO, NOVA FORMWORKS PVT. LTD. In an Interview with B2B Purchase.
What are the present trends and opportunities for scaffolding and formwork businesses?
The Indian construction market is, by and by, moving from the ordinary compressed plywood and steel formwork, to an organised formwork system. Initially, it was just the large organisation, later, medium and limited-scope contractors too are switching to Nova Plastic Formwork. Even the construction industry has widely implemented Nova Formworks in all kinds of projects including roads, drains, underpasses, minor bridges, walls, STP tanks, hospitals, schools, overhead water tanks, industrial buildings, steel plants, etc.
We have ample of opportunities today, as the government is spending huge amount on projects. So, presently, formwork and scaffolding have a colossal degree as the number of individuals utilising system formwork is extremely low.
What are the new developments and technologies trending in the market?
However, a large number of these innovations are in advanced stages all over the world and would take a long time to be available for use in locales, but the future of development is increasingly robotised.
How is the adoption of new materials and technologies picking up for various projects?
The latest developments and technologies are 3D printing for the construction of smaller buildings. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality have taken the lead in providing virtual tours of building models, giving a genuine vibe of the structure. Building Information Modelling (BIM) and IOT are being used in smart construction machinery for further automation and productivity. Precast structures for mass housing projects are currently essentially being taken up and are being used by a couple of organisations.
In precast, we provided material for precast sewers for the Central Vista project in Delhi, giving excellent quality structure, and similar projects for drains and box culverts have been done by us for different development organisations at first, which was being done conventionally.
Although India is taking time to adjust ot new technologies, Construction segment will still become increasingly mechanised in the next few years. For now, System Formworks will be used by much smaller development companies or even contractors.
What are the key challenges faced by scaffolding and formwork players?
The high expansion in expenses of unrefined components is making it extremely challenging for formwork and scaffolding organisations to get by, as the construction companies can’t expand the costs right away. Because of this, edges have contracted for both the construction companies and the formwork and scaffolding providers. The functional capital necessities have multiplied too.
How do you look at the future market trends ?
The future looks extremely splendid as there are mega projects coming up and essentially the mentality is shifting from conventional formworks to system formworks like Nova Formworks, maintaining as a top priority every one of the benefits it gives: lightweight, great completion, great concrete quality, no spillage, less labour, quicker process durations, and a decrease in general expenses and improvement in quality while also making altruism for the contractors and builders.
