We are scheduled to unveil 14 new products in the bauma CONEXPO India 2023, along with our regular products, such as batching plants, concrete pumps, recycling plants, TSRs, self-loading mixers, wheel loaders, excavators, piling rigs, truck cranes, horizontal directional drilling machines, says V G Sakthikumar, Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India.
We have always been a vivid supporter of bauma CONEXPO India since its debut in India. It is a platform to bond with our customers in the northern and eastern regions. We are excited about this edition, a big event after four years, to connect with our customers and showcase our latest product line.
What are your thoughts on digitalising construction operations in the coming years?
Schwing Stetter India has always been known for its innovative machines and for leveraging advanced technology like big data and the Internet of Things (IoT) in its products and services. Our induction methods for advanced technology have been widely recognised in the market, and our customers always look out for new launches to our product range every year. To support the visible digitalising process happening in the market, we have also launched a dedicated online portal for our customers to purchase spares and lodge service or maintenance requests without hassle.
The construction equipment sector and the government in India are working together to improve indigenisation. How do you assess India’s export potential in this context?
Drives such as “AtmaNirbhar” and “Make in India” are being thoughtfully implemented at our company. SCHWING Stetter India has been practising manufacturing indigenous products since its inception, even before the “Make in India” drive became vogue. Almost 60–65 percent of components are locally manufactured at our five manufacturing bases and close to 120 vendor bases for OEM component supply. We still further look into the opportunities for the indigenisation of imported components, but these are subject to feasibility, technical know-how, and production capacity. The SCHWING Stetter Global Manufacturing Hub manufactures and exports concrete equipment under the “Make in India” drive. SCHWING Stetter India is an exporter of our products and product designs to more than 150 countries, and our global presence is still growing and expanding.
Which equipment and developments, in your opinion, will drive the industry’s shift to sustainable construction?
Sustainability has become a significant focus of the construction industry in recent years, and Schwing Stetter India has made significant strides in this area. In the past, manual methods were used in construction, which did not consider the future needs of the industry or the environment. However, in the past 25 years, Schwing Stetter India has introduced mechanisation to the construction process, which has helped to utilise sustainable materials and practices. Some of our products, such as our concrete recycling plants and sludge pumps, are specifically designed to reduce waste and protect the environment. For example, our concrete recycling plants help reduce the amount of waste concrete dumped, while our sludge pumps are used to treat and separate different types of industrial waste.
How are we addressing project safety and management requirements with the enormous increase in infrastructure projects?
We are addressing project safety and project management in several ways. First, we provide safety training at the project site to ensure that all team members know the proper protocols and procedures. We also offer practical training on operating our equipment at the site using a demonstrator. In addition, we can provide a delegation of one of our engineers at the site to oversee the project and ensure that everything is running smoothly. Lastly, we offer prompt spare parts support to ensure that any necessary repairs or maintenance can be done quickly and efficiently.
