How does TIDC engineer specialised chains for power transmission applications?

TIDC manufactures a spectrum of chain products in volumes that only a few manufacturers worldwide can match. Step by step, link by link, we have developed momentum. Decades of experience have lent us invaluable insights into R&D. We rely on extensive R&D initiatives that keep our products in step with the market. We believe in a collaborative approach to NPD, depending on the latest design software and chain manufacturing technology.

What innovations are being added to add quality and precision in engineering and manufacturing to your products?

Expansion of facilities has led to our acquiring formidable manufacturing strengths. Continuous investments in technology have ensured we have world-class technology on call. TIDC has consciously invested in improving our product testing and validation capabilities to meet customer requirements. The introduction of new technologies like pressure blanking, ball drilling, etc. and constant improvement in tooling capabilities have improved our products’ quality, precision, and performance.

Can you shed some light on your cellular manufacturing concept, which works specifically for the Indian chain industry?

TIDC India’s pioneering “cellular manufacturing” concept ensures innovation in the manufacturing process and production methodology. This system is based on structured operations as stand-alone divisions for specific products. These efforts have led to our clients recognising us as ‘The Complete Chain’.

Which heat and other tolerance properties widely impact the tensile and fatigue strengths of your industrial offerings?

The chain’s tensile strength is influenced by the grade of the raw material and the type of heat treatment to which the part is subjected in the manufacturing process. TIDC uses medium-carbon steel for the link plates and low-carbon alloy steel for the pins subjected to heat treatment in continuous mesh belt furnaces. Stringent process controls and closer tolerances ensure superior tensile strength.

The fatigue strength of the chain depends on the precision of the manufactured parts and the uniformity of heat treatment. TIDC has state-of-the-art assembly lines that ensure uniform chain clearances and higher interference levels. All these provide better fatigue strength for our chains. What other value-added services do you offer for the material handling segment?

TIDC has a three-way strategy for addressing “core,” “adjacency,” and “step out” products. The adjacency and step-out initiatives focus on providing value-added services to our customers. We constantly engage with our customers in hopes of increasing our share of business by adding products that are part of the material handling system. We supply sprockets, sheaves, anchors, and other products as value-added solutions under the Adjacency strategy.

As a part of Step Out, we constantly develop products for niche applications while benchmarking global players.
