Schwing is set to launch 25 new machines as a celebration of their 25th anniversary in January 2023. As an initiation, they presented 14 new pieces of construction equipment during Bauma Conexpo 2023.
Products launched at Bauma 2023
We launched the largest move pump in a 3X, a 47-meter move pump. That is India’s largest pump, and it is manufactured in India. We’ve also introduced three new batching plant models to fill the void. We currently have prototype cubic metres of 18 cubic meters, 30 cubic meters, 45 cubic meters, 54 cubic meters, 60 cubic meters, 67 cubic meters, and 70 cubic meters. The total range is 80 cubic meters, 90 cubic meters, 104 cubic meters, and 110 cubic meters.
EV advantages offered
This is the first EV product in the group. This will be a pathbreaking event for the group, and for the construction machinery industry and their application machines. Transforming to electric vehicles is going to have a big advantage. And, because EVs do not have engines, they are easier to work at high altitudes where the pressure is low and the temperature is low, eliminating the need for a cold start, which is a significant benefit to the user. Besides, while working inside the tunnel, the electric vehicle does not emit exhaust gas, which is hazardous for people working inside the tunnel centre compared to a diesel or fossil fuel-based engine.
Innovations to the mining and tunnelling segments
There is new development across all the products. Huge infrastructure activities are happening in the mining and tunnelling industries. Every time a tunnel is made, the concrete has to be sprayed. So, for such applications, we have sold more than 100 units, all with a diesel engine, and for the first time, we are exhibiting an electric version of that. A 130-horsepower engine has been replaced with 70 kilowatt-hour batteries to make the machine move from the entrance of the tunnel to the workplace, and for the first time, a sharp threading machine is easy for the group. Most importantly, it was designed and developed in India by an Indian company.
Future prospects for hydrogen-powered equipment and engines
We are the first to announce a biofuel-capable hybrid engine. That is exactly what we accomplished with Mahindra for our truck, even though we had no control over the primary mover’s engine or motor. We must rely on our partner to meet our demand and advise them to make engine size alterations from our end to accommodate our purpose and modify our machine when we are ready. So, when it comes to the initial investment in the engine or prime mover, we rely on our vendor partners; we are open, but the market will decide on new or futuristic technology, affordability, and the overall ecosystem.
