More possibilities: Layher products and services
Layher’s present product characteristics and services help customers achieve long-term success and increase the profitability of their companies. The Layher Allround Scaffolding has been established as a synonym for modular scaffolds on the market. The Allround Scaffolding offers unsurpassed versatility to be used in construction sites, chemical industry, power plants, aircraft, shipyards, event sector, theatres and arenas.
Allround scaffolding uses a simple, unique and bolt free connection technology. Sliding the wedge head over the rosette and inserting the wedge into the opening immediately secures the component. There is still sufficient play to secure the other end of the ledger. A hammer blow to the wedge transforms the loose connection into a superbly strong structurally rigid one. The face of the wedge head is now precisely positioned against the standard. Connections in quick to assemble and spanner less scaffolding systems make a unique combination: providing structural strength immediately on assembly and subsequent ultimate force transmission while offering a choice of automatically right – angled or splayed connections with universal safety right from the start.
To transfer pulling force, every frame is secured by locking pins or bolts to each other. In this way the tower can be assembled on the ground and placed by crane.
Shoring frames TG 60 – even more possibilities in Allround Scaffolding. The new Layher Allround shoring frames TG 60 have been developed as an extension of the Allround Scaffolding system. With three new additional parts, you can assemble shoring towers even faster, higher and sturdier.
Steadily rising costs mean that construction procedures have to be closely scrutinised in the quest for potential savings. That applies not only to building work properly, but also to scaffolding construction. System scaffolding has long been used not only for its classic role as work and protection scaffolding, but for many other jobs besides: from bridging and site access to shoring structures. The advantages for assembly obtained by efficient system scaffolding can have a positive effect on the profitability of the site thanks to on-schedule building progress.
To use a floor formwork system in the optimum way, a flexible support is needed. Layher went down a completely different road with Allround Shoring TG 60. To supplement the modular and so extremely flexible Allround Scaffolding from Layher, special shoring frames have been developed with a load-bearing capacity of up to 6 tonnes per standard. The frames can be quickly combined with Allround standard parts, like ledgers and diagonal braces, to create shoring towers with variable bay length. This perfectly combines the advantages of modular Allround Scaffolding with those of a shoring tower made of prefabricated frames.
Systematic shoring construction with TG 60 a major benefit is increased efficiency on construction sites: time is saved not only thanks to the lightweight components, weighing no more than 18 kilograms, but also for example by the lower number of parts: assembly is about 30 percent faster than with individual standards and ledgers. To that can be added bolt-free wedge-head connectors, the option of movement by crane or by means of easily attached castors, and above all the high flexibility due to variable bay lengths. By extending the shoring towers from 1.09 metres to 3.07 metres, the TG 60 system can be precisely adapted to the existing geometry and load. Use of the material is optimised – and the assembly time is minimised. Using Allround standard material also obviates the need for time-consuming bracing using tubes and couplers or for measuring the individual towers to ensure they meet planning requirements. Rectangularity is automatically obtained as a result.
Compatibility with the comprehensive component range of Allround Scaffolding offers building contractors yet more crucial advantages. Every requirement on a construction site can be economically implemented using the Allround construction kit. Whether it’s used for linking of large shoring structures with Allround ledgers and diagonal braces with a wedge-head connection, for geometry adaptations such as height adjustment in the stairway area, or for attaching working levels and stairway towers. Beside the advantages of the product in itself, Layher is also observing a rethink in the assembly and dismantling capacities of shoring. While construction companies often do the assembly themselves in minor projects thanks to the self-explanatory assembly procedure, for larger projects scaffolding erection specialists are increasingly being called in.
Major project efficiently handled
Advantages that was persuasive in view of the tight schedule and complex geometry in a major project too: during construction of a new multi-storied building complex containing production and logistics areas, an efficient support was needed for the concreting of more than 100,000 sq. m. of floor space made from pre-cast slabs and in-situ concrete. For the people responsible for the project, there were two central factors to be considered: fast and flexible assembly and dismantling of the scaffolding material, up to 2,000 tonnes in weight per building phase, plus well thought-out logistics. Extended shoring towers here ensured problem-free repositioning of the numerous floor supports and their push-pull props, plus a precise adjustment to the floor loads. As a result it was possible to save on a complete row of towers per section and so save on assembly time too. But linking and bracing of the shoring using Allround system ledgers and diagonal braces also saved time, since expensive structures made of tubes and couplers weren’t needed.
In view of the heavy stresses on the site cranes, assembly was done upright. Safety during work to build the structure of up to 15 metres in height was assured by the innovative assembly sequence of Allround Shoring TG 60 with integrated all-round side protection. Safety during laying of the formwork was enhanced by using Layher standard decks as the work surface. Once assembled, the shoring towers could be relocated quickly to the next storey, without the need to dismantle and reassemble them, using easy-to-attach castors. To optimise the site logistics, a special TG 60 pallet holding 44 standard frames was also used.
“Supporting” the concreting work of more than 100,000 sq. m. of floor space during construction of a new multi-storied building complex: thanks to problem-free repositioning of floor supports and their push-pull props, linking the up to 15-metre high shoring towers with Allround standard ledgers and diagonal braces, and special pallets, Allround Shoring TG 60 from Layher created “more possibilities”
Small solution – big effect
Allround Shoring TG 60 also proved to be material-saving for the formwork of two floors and of a wall-like support during construction of a production area extension. The scaffolding erectors used here, instead of square towers, extended shoring towers with a bay length of 2.07 metres to match the existing load, and reinforced the structure where the load was concentrated by means of transverse walls at certain points, by combining two frames each with a 0.25-metre long Allround ledger. The load capacity can be increased by this method as required using system dimensions. The work platform for reinforcing work was made using a 1.09-metre long Allround bracket. The positive result: no need to assemble a further row of towers – an economical solution.
