Plastic formwork to gain momentum

  Ghaziabad-based Nova Formwork Systems is a manufacturer of plastic formwork panels for columns, slabs, walls, lift walls etc. The company’s Managing Director Vikas Mittal expresses his optimism about the growth of plastic formwork industry. Interview excerpts:

Which are the major trends that will drive the formwork industry in 2016?
Right now the major trend which will drive the formwork industry will be the infrastructure and industrial sector like roads, institutional buildings and smart city. The government should start spending and once that happen the construction industry will benefit from that. The plastic formwork is already being used for some major projects of infrastructure and we see that more of that will be used in this year. Housing sector has gone down and will see a further drop this year as the sales are at the bottom.

What major projects has the company taken up so far?
We are supplying to L&T for the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (Western DFC) project for the box culverts, piers and other precast requirements. We have taken up institutional projects AIIMS Delhi, IIITD College Delhi, Bennet University Greater Noida, and drainage and retaining wall project in Meghalaya. We are also engaged in some housing projects.

Which type of formwork is majorly exported abroad?
We have come out with a new system called NOVA FRAMEX which is a combination of plastic and steel panels and we have received a very good response for the same. We are looking at a very good export market this year.

Are you planning to expand your manufacturing facilities to other parts of the country apart from Ghaziabad and Bengaluru?
We are not looking at setting up more manufacturing plants in other parts as we cater to the north, west and central India from Ghaziabad whereas our Bengaluru plant meets the requirement of south and  other parts of the country. However, we are looking at distributors and sales offices at other parts of the country.

What is the USP of your product Nova Formwork?
Nova Formwork is economical, light weight and easy to use. In addition, the unique properties include superior surface finish, repetitions, water proof and modular.
