AOTS Alumni Association of Western India (AAAWI) , celebrated its silver jubilee during the Together India-Japan conference in Mumbai. The executive members of AAAWI are working towards achieving a grand success of its 25th year or silver jubilee year program.

AOTS Aiumni Association of Western India (AAAWI) was born in 1993. Nine individuals from Mumbai who had undergone AOTS training in Japan were the signatories to the formal registration of AAAWI . This organisation was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1880 and the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.

AAAWI after its birth in 1993 continued with its activities, which involved:
• Screening and nominating professionals to undergo technical training organised by AOTS in Japan
• Conducting Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) courses
• Supporting Japanese language learning programs for Indian teachers by Japanese experts
• Organised and supported Japanese cultural activities
• Seminars by Japanese and Indian experts
• World Network of Friendship (WNF) participant training in companies like Godrej & Boyce Ltd, Larsen & Turbo Ltd, Reliance Industries Ltd, and others
• Japanese interns undergoing 6 months training in companies in Western India
• AAAWI representatives have participated in activities of other alumni societies and in the World Convention.

On the occasion of the silver jubilee year program, Anjani Kumar Agrawal, President, AAAWI, states, “I had gone for AOTS Training in 1990 to Yokohama, Japan and spent highly memorable two-weeks there. Some of the learning which is still fresh is well built in my routine. In my close association of more than 28 years with AAAWI, I got opportunities to work as member, treasurer, Vice-President and lastly President. I have ever since maintained togetherness, truthfulness and cost effectiveness.”

Shinya Kuwayama, President, The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), says, “Words fall short to explain the building friendship between Mumbai, India and Japan. We have been striving for success under the strong leadership of our past president, including late Rusi Ghista, our Founder President. Generous supports have been provided by industries and governments of both the countries, including Mumbai Consulate-General of Japan.”

“We are pleased that we are now stepping up activities to organise seminars in Japanese-style management techniques and Japanese language lessons. It is certain that these will improve the understanding of Japan by the people of Mumbai, and promote business expansion by Japanese companies.” Kuwayama adds, “We hope that Mumbai will continue playing an important role in the development of the relationship between our two countries. The AOTS will remain committed to assist you in your future endeavour.”

Ryoji Noda, Consul-General, Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai, says, “It is a great honour for me to extend my sincere congratulations on the commemoration of the silver jubilee of AAAWI.”

Noda adds, “AAAWI has successfully enhanced business and industry relations by organising seminars and the technical programs. With its dedication to the human resource development, AAAWI has nurtured many talents who have contributed to the advancement of society with their knowledge and expertise.”
