AIVA announces Bhagirath Award

Pune-based AIVA Engineering Pvt. Ltd., a manufacturer of innovative products in water market, recently felicitated a few individuals who have worked in the field of water purification, conservation and distribution.
This year AIVA organised it’s first “AIVA Bhagirath Award Ceremony” with the support from Maitri Pariwar, one of the most renowned NGO in Pune and Nagpur.
This year two awards were declared: one for innovative technologies to Kamlakar Urade for his energy less water pump and another for social cause to Madhukar Pol for his great contribution in the concept of river link project.
The chief guest, Anand Nirgude, a High court judge and a renowned wildlife photographer expressed that the Water Act in India is very effective if implemented properly.
Jeet Singh, a Chief Conservator of Forest Pune and Raju Dhariya of Vanarai Project shared their thoughts about people’s participation in water conservation.
One of the award winners, Kamlakar Urade, a 32-year Tribal youth from Talasari, district Palghar who has developed a pump made up of waste material like cycle rings, drums, cardboards, hand pump cylinders and locally available wood which runs without electricity; now popular as Kamlakar Urade pump. Today this pump delivers 500-litre water to half a kilometer at the height of 30 metres.
Another award winner is a well-known water engineer Madhukar Pol. He is one of those 10 engineers whose recommendations were taken into consideration in 1965 by the office of Prime Minister about the river link scheme. He has a great contribution in building of big dams like Jayakwadi.
AIVA stands for “Aquatech Innovation for Value Addition”. Anant Nampurkar, CMD of the company feels that in the efforts of conserving precious resource like water his company should have some contribution. The main objective of AIVA is Innovation and conservation. “AIVA has brought a line of innovative products in water distribution and is committed to bring more and more of them,” he said.
