Astral Poly Technik Ltd (listed public limited company) is a manufacturer and provider of CPVC and PVC piping and plumbing systems in India since 1999. Astral is the first licensee of Lubrizol, USA (formerly known as Specialty Chemical Division of B.F Goodrich, USA) to manufacture and market CPVC piping and plumbing system. 
 
With a concept of providing a one-stop source for all the plastic piping systems, Astral also began trading in products such as CPVC and PVC fittings, flanges and valves from Spears (USA), solvent cements (adhesive solutions) for joining pipes and fittings from IPSC (USA), underground specialty fittings from Hunter (UK) and CPVC and PVC plastic pipes of a larger diameter from Harvell Inc. (USA)
 
The company is now NSF-certified for its CPVC piping systems. With a small team of just 5 employees in 1999, the company has over 450 employees today. The turnover figures have always jumped leaps and bounds from a mere INR 22.6 crore in 2003-04 to INR 192.70 crore in 2008-09. Innovative product designs and improvements, new technologies, and a fully integrated manufacturing system are all a part of Astral’s ongoing commitment to quality, satisfaction and service.
 
Astral has its production facilities at Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh to manufacture plumbing systems from ½” to 12” diameter. products, manufactured and traded include:

•      Astral Foamcore lightweight foam core uPVC pipe for DWV and underground systems.
 
Astral products are 100 per cent recyclable and do not add to any pollution including air, water and soil. It also consumes very less energy while manufacturing, compared to other competitive products available for same application like metal pipes.
 
Astral plants are ISO 9001: 2008 certified and Astral is using the same as quality management standards. As far as the products are concerned Astral is following ASTM & IS standards while manufacturing the products.  
 
The production set-up includes machines like extruder for pipes and injection moldings for fittings. The machines are highly sophisticated with computerized controls including feeding and monitoring of process parameters. All machines are imported from countries like Germany and Austria and having synchronized operations. Also, Astral has in-house quality testing for all the products which the company manufactures.   
 
Astral sells its entire range of products through a chain of distribution network with company depots in the north and south to cater to their distributors spread across India. The company has marketing team in place, which meets builders, architects, developers and generates business leads which are provided to its dealers for further follow-up. In addition, Astral hosts plumber awareness and training seminar to educate plumbers on the company’s product and train them for installation of Astral products. These efforts have helped the company to become pan India players with 250 distributors and over 3,000 dealers.
Astral products are manufactured to meet optimum application requirements. Products are also carefully designed with respect to engineering details like low friction loss and high flow rates. Astral selects the raw materials for the service life of 50 years with safety factor of more than 1.5.
