Wirtgen Group’s booth was packed with leading machine and application technologies from Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann, Benninghoven, and John Deere. Visitors were not only impressed by the numerous possible applications resulting from the synergies between the products, but also by the two companies’ unified presence. The 622GP motor grader was met with great interest. The Wirtgen Group’s sales and service network in Germany and France is handling the sale of these products.
The group also underscored its position as the innovation driver and technology leader in the road construction sector. In addition to the six technology demos, visitors were clearly interested in the new machines. As a result, the rush to view the new products – such as the intelligent Wirtgen W 210 Fi cold milling machine with Mill Assist, the impressive Vögele SUPER 3000-3(i) large paver with 18 m screed, the new Hamm HP series of pneumatic tired rollers, the rugged Kleemann MOBICAT MC 120 Z PRO jaw crusher for demanding mining operations, the environmentally friendly Benninghoven TBA asphalt mixing plant with hot gas generator, and, of course, the entire range of John Deere construction equipment – did not let up during the entire event.

The heart of the system is the fully remote-controlled tunnel boring machine AVNS350XB, which has an excavation diameter of 505 mm and is designed for drive lengths of more than 1,000 m. The machine can keep to the planned alignment with high precision and thus cross safely under existing infrastructure. Tunnelling machine is equipped with a jet pump and an integrated hydraulic power unit. Through the use of the jet pump for transporting the muck, up to 10 times longer tunnelling distances can be realized at high speeds in the small diameter range.

CASE Construction Equipment unveiled its methane-powered wheel loader concept – ProjectTETRA. Jointly developed by the CNH Industrial international design and CASE engineering teams, this concept is a clear departure from anything seen to date in the construction industry. The concept reflects both the increasing importance of alternative fuels, and demonstrates their viability in the construction environment: the concept wheel loader is powered by a proven methane engine, produced by sister brand FPT Industrial, and delivers exactly the same performance as its diesel equivalent. This is combined with cutting edge styling and an advanced operator environment, which makes extensive use of touchscreen and voice control technologies. Furthermore, innovative safety features include biometric technologies together with an obstacle detection system, which is derived from CNH Industrial’s autonomous vehicle research and development program.
