The company’s 1110 EX-D Soil Compactor with its closed HVAC cabin and a more powerful engine is highly suitable for heavier application usage says Puneet Vidyarthi, Brand Leader, Case India.

How important is the role that subgrade material plays in compaction?
Subgrade is the layer of native soil over which concrete is laid and it plays a very critical role in compaction. The density and moisture content varies for different subgrades hence they require different treatments. It’s essential to compact the subgrade efficiently since the load bearing capacity and the uniformity of the entire concrete structure depends on it. Case India’s compaction line offers proper control over the machine resulting in good compaction of the subgrade.

The compaction meter in our compactors determines the density of soil and other materials. It acts as a defense mechanism against unseen soil compaction. This system helps in analyzing the amplitude, frequency, and ICV (intelligence compaction value) which helps in avoiding over compaction. The automated functions in the cab also include an electrohydraulic joystick to customize the reversing and steering sensitivity, making the drivers’ job easy, allowing them to achieve shorter cycle times and boost productivity.

What are the advantages of automatic compaction control, how can it catalyze the process of road construction?
Automatic compaction helps in bringing uniformity in work, thus making the workflow smooth and efficient. Sites and soils may vary in terms of density and moisture hence they need to be analysed properly.  Automatic compaction control brings precision and helps in avoiding any error in judgment. It also fast tracks the road construction process by minimizing human intervention.

Could you tell us about the dangers of over compaction?
While compacting, we need to focus on maintaining adequate density of the materials. The lack of or excessive compacting can lead to deformation or erosion causing cracks and leaks in the concrete structure after the construction. Case India Soil compactors come equipped with a compactor meter which helps in avoiding over compaction of the soil by analysing the amplitude, frequency, and ICV (intelligence compaction value).

What are some of the equipment you offer for compaction?
Under the compaction segment, Case India offers 752EX (9T Class) Vibratory Tandem Compactor and 450DX Mini Tandem Compactor (3T Class). In soil compactors, Case has 1110 EX-D and 1107EX, perfect for uniform compaction across the terrain. This wide range of equipment illustrates the brand’s ability to cater to activities as diverse as urban construction, road building, infrastructure and bridge construction.

In terms of efficiency, Case 752EX is equipped with a 3.9-liter 4-cylinder engine, a mechanical injection system and an internal exhaust gas recirculation delivering 76 HP at 2200 rpm and torque of 332 Nm at 1300 rpm. This new-generation engine is developed by CNH Industrial subsidiary FPT Industrial – the world-leading manufacturer of engines. The 752EX’s operator compartment features a rotating operator seat and tilt-able steering which gives excellent front and rear drum/nozzle visibility, making the drive and compaction process easier and safer. The look of the machine is enhanced by a foldable canopy for ease of transportation, new fuel, and water tanks and an all-new sophisticated instrument cluster.

Case 450DX is another market leader in the Mini Tandem Compactor segment in India. This machine is perfect for shoulder compaction, service roads and basement compaction with a compact design.

Case’s soil compactor variants are well suited for various earth layers. The company’s 1110 EX-D Soil Compactor (12T Class – Powered by FPT engine developing 110HP), with its closed HVAC cabin and a more powerful engine is highly suitable for heavier application usage. We take immense pride in serving our customers the best in terms of productivity and reliability.

What is your forecast on the roads and bridges segment for the year 2020?
The entire market is currently in a lull. We might see the market recovering soon in the upcoming time with the help of the government initiatives. The central government has outlined a number of policy related initiatives which will ease the pressure from the sector and spur the road and highways project. A report by NIP suggests that the new and upgrading infrastructure projects with Rs 111 trillion of investment will be key to raising India’s competitiveness and making it a Rs 5 trillion (US$) economy by 2025. Hence, the opportunities are on the way and Case India is ready to make the most of them in the upcoming period.
