  Founded in 2004, Fibrex Construction Chemicals Pvt. Ltd.is engaged in offering a wide range of chemicals and additives to meet requirements of construction, automotive, cement and other industries. When asked about the range of products that the company offers, Puneet said, “Our products range from floor hardeners, epoxy flooring and coatings, grouts, waterproofing coating, waterproofing admixtures, spray applied waterproofing, joint sealants, repair compounds, curing and sealing compounds, admixtures, tile grouts or adhesives and corrosion protection coatings.”

Explaining further, Puneet adds, “Admixtures are natural or manufactured chemicals other than cement, aggregate and water that are added to concrete either before or during its mixing to alter its properties, such as workability, curing temperature range, set time or colour.”

The other products of Fibrex include, FIBFLOOR CAR DECK SYSTEM, which is a multi layer, multi polymer coating system comprising of an epoxy primer, epoxy car deck system to form seamless, anti skid coatings in attractive colours. Others include FIBWEATHER which is a High-end exterior acrylic elastomeric paint. A unique elastomeric high build coating based on a revolutionary acrylic polymer with quick-set capabilities to resist premature moisture attack. FIBSEAL (JSP 700) – Polyurethane Modified Joint Sealant. Typical application includes expansion Joints in residential, commercial or industrial buildings.

As labour is difficult to be managed, labour shortage and labour cost are major constraints.  Companies should try to focus on manufacturing machine-based construction chemical products like spray applied products, which in turn minimises errors of application, reduces labour cost, and improves efficiency of time and durability of product. Explaining this, Puneet said, “Earlier, many companies were using certain materials which were not advanced. But now many have entered a state of maturity by using available resources such as manufactured sand instead of river sand and also using fly-ash and other substitutes. Few have chosen environmentally non-hazardous materials. The industry should take the rise of material costs in its stride.”

Procurement and payment concerns
The procurement of construction chemicals is highly dependent on the specifying bodies like architecture, consultants and project management consultants. According to Puneet, presently more than 72 per cent market is going under the mode of specifying the same specification and products which were being recommended since ages.

A buyer should consider these factors for selecting construction chemicals. Puneet concludes, “Fibrex emphasises on educating market for selection of products which will help industry to have less rejection rates.”
