Three-day exhibition brought together companies of India and Nepal to buoy engagement within the industry.
CII organised a three-day construction equipment and technology exhibition: ConMac 2018 at Kathmandu, Nepal from 22 to 24 November 2018. Conmac 2018 Nepal was inaugurated by Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (Nepal) Raghubir Mahaseth in the presence of Ambassador of India to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri.
Nepalese construction industry contributed around 10 to 11 percentages to GDP and it uses around 35 per cent of government budget. The construction industry in Nepal is growing at an impressive rate after 2015 earthquake. It is estimated that this sector is creating employment opportunities to about one million people.
The Government of Nepal is emphasising on accelerated development of Infrastructure in the Region, it is imperative to expose the region to latest machinery / technology for Construction sector. The exhibition organised more than 150 business exhibitors and companies from India to showcase their products and services, including some of the largest companies such as JCB, L and T, Hyundai, Caterpillar and Tata Hitachi, among others. The exhibition brought together companies involved in the construction industry in Nepal and India to further enhance the already high level of engagement within the industry. With more than 200,000 sq ft of display area, it was Nepal’s largest exhibition of construction equipment.
Nepal market is undergoing major transformation similar to what India witnessed about two decades back primarily driven by road construction. Infrastructure is one of the peak areas in Nepal right now and companies are putting in money in the infrastructure of the country. Thus, sizeable room for using road construction equipment has been created.
