Cradle enables airport facade access
.

The uniqueness of the Cradle facade access systems is in its ability adapt to the specific airport conditions and requirements.

Tarun Khemlani,
Managing Director, Cradle Runways India Pvt Ltd

The unique requirements of airports both in terms of design and usability make all systems complex and unique. Mumbai based Cradle Runways India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Clean India Group, one of the leaders with over 80 per cent market share in the field of access equipment, has commissioned facade access systems at Delhi International Airport T3 terminal, Mumbai International Airport T2 terminal, Hyderabad and Bangalore airports. The company has also completed facade access systems at the new ATC tower at DIAL and HIAL ATC.

From all of these projects, the specialised trolley and gantry supplied at Terminal 2 in Mumbai is definitely the most complex, admits Tarun Khemlani, Managing Director, Cradle Runways India Pvt Ltd. He explains: “The site only had stub columns every 12 metres and we designed a system which spanned that length and suspended the complete load while raising and lowering along the facade. That was combined with the special gantry system supplied for the bull nose of the processor building to manoeuvre the unique shape and clean the facade without applying any load to the bull nose itself.”

All the systems had to be designed to accommodate the airport construction and complexities. “We not only successfully commissioned these systems but have been maintaining them as well. Our sister concern, Technoclean, is currently cleaning both the DIAL T3 and MIAL T2 facades,” informs Khemlani.

Unique properties
According to Khemlani, the uniqueness of the Cradle facade access systems is in its ability to adapt the specific airport conditions and requirements. The terminal rises and descends along with the facade. It also curves in requiring simultaneous bending in both directions. This is coupled with the stub distance of 12 metres has made Cradle’s facade access system one of the most challenging systems in the country and one of very few in the world.

Beyond boundaries
Apart from having PAN India presence, Cradle is currently very active in the markets across Middle East, Sri Lanka, East Africa and Singapore. The company has local operations set up in all of these countries.
