“The construction equipment industry has seen some growth in telescopic cranes as well as in big capacity crawler cranes. The upcoming major market for these cranes is the wind mill sector,” says Rajeev Kumar, CEO, Friends Equipment while commenting on the recent performance of construction equipment industry. He further says, “The major demand for telescopic cranes is for the capacity ranging from 55-tonne to 300-tonne. In the case of crawler crane, there is a good demand for 650-tonne capacity crane.”
A year of mixed sentiments
According to Kumar, the year 2016 was that of mixed sentiments. He said, “We have seen a set of mixed sentiments from the market. In the beginning of this year, the market was slow and then there was a sudden rise in the demand in first quarter. The second quarter was again slow and we now we are seeing a good market again from the third quarter.”
Achievements during the year
Sharing the companies achievements of the company, Kumar said, “This year we have added some new customers in our fleet. We have also sold a good number of cranes specially the ones with higher capacity. We have sold two units of 300-tonne all terrain crane and become the first company to launched 300-tonne capacity all terrain crane from China.”
Bauma Conexpo India 2016
Kumar feels that Bauma Conexpo India is a very good platform for the construction equipment suppliers as well as for the buyers. One can meet with almost every prominent supplier and buyer under one roof. It obviously will give the best backup to support the business by making new clients and to know more about the current market. The company will have a stall at Hall 2 G32. The company will be launching Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) at the expo. “The machines will play a crucial role for underground metro and tunnel related works. In all the company will launch three TBMs – Slurry, Large and EPB,” Kumar said.
