Opportunities and challenges in procuring road construction material in the domestic market The last fiscal budget, given by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, stated that the government’s emphasis on road and highway building will be a game changer for the whole construction and infrastructure sector. Such an opening and development will create a plethora of options for infrastructure projects. We anticipate favourable development and economic prospects in India as a result of the government’s big announcement of road and highway expansion. Even the government is constantly excited about adopting creative development projects in the infrastructure sector. With the increased focus of the government, we discover adequate application of schedules in project completion.
Implementation of technologies and ecofriendly materials
We call it carbon prints, and all the R & D teams persistently work towards reducing the carbon footprints printed on the concrete, as the concrete tends to release more carbon, leading to reactions. Here, Puzzolana materials – silica, GGBS , Microsilica, all these are waste materials generated from thermal power plants. Inappropriate implementation of such materials can lead to multiple health hazards.
It will give more hazards to people if they don’t use it properly. That’s why they will always use concrete. They will always do R & D and use that material to make use of the concrete usage and it will help to reduce the carbon footprint of the concrete.
Feasibility of utilising massive precast technology in the construction of roads and bridges
Today, precast roads can be executed, but they have to be implemented more in India. We already have precast roads in cities like Bangalore and in some parts of the North. Our chief engineer for R & D has been highly energetic in implementing precast building roads. “I believe roads built with precast technology in India have an added advantage.” In north India, some of the roads are precast. So, they have done some of the roads. One of the R & D chief engineers in north India is energetic and personally implemented the precast roads. This is definitely an added advantage to India’s infra development, and will further enhance the life span of the construction.
Normally, bitumen roads witness a season where the water enters below the bitumen that further damage the construction leading to potholes and uneven structures. So, if the bitumen is very weak, if water is comes, the sinking of the surface will happen if it is a pre stress element, it will take more deflections and vibrations when the vehicle movement comes in and the maintenance of roads has really decreased drastically. Now we’re in India, how much government is spending to repair the roads? Nobody can imagine that all can be saved for India, definitely it is an added advantage if they implemented the precast things.
