elZinc brings its globally acclaimed titanium zinc products to the Indian roofing and cladding sector, offering a perfect blend of design flexibility, durability, and sustainability.

elZinc is well known for its zinc-based architectural solutions. Could you tell us about your key offerings for the roofing and cladding sectors?

We specialise in manufacturing high-quality titanium zinc rolled products under the elZinc brand, which are primarily used in roofing and façade applications. Our product range caters to both traditional systems and bespoke architectural solutions. While zinc is a relatively new material for the Indian market, globally, it is highly regarded for its versatility, durability, and sustainability. In India, we’re seeing increasing interest, especially in premium and design-driven projects, because zinc offers long-lasting performance and aesthetic appeal for roofs and façades.

Some of your product lines, like elZinc Rainbow and elZinc Alkimi, are getting attention in design circles. How do these support creative freedom for architects and project designers?

Our elZinc Alkimi series is a pre-weathered zinc range that mimics the natural patina process, while the elZinc Rainbow series is pigmented, offering a wide spectrum of colours. These allow architects to experiment with various hues and finishes while retaining the technical advantages of zinc. Thanks to zinc’s malleability, architects can easily design complex shapes like parametric façades or curved surfaces. The material responds well to 3D design demands, enabling freedom of form without compromising durability. Plus, the long-term performance, often exceeding 80 years, gives architects confidence in the longevity of their designs.

What makes elZinc’s solutions stand out when compared to traditional roofing systems?

One of our key differentiators is our global manufacturing scale. elZinc is the second-largest producer of rolled zinc products in the world. We offer the widest zinc coils in the market, going up to 1340 mm, compared to the standard 1000 mm available from other suppliers. This allows for broader panels and cleaner architectural lines, reducing joints and increasing efficiency in installation. Moreover, our systems are engineered for aesthetics, durability, and sustainability. Zinc is inherently self-healing and corrosion-resistant, making it a strong alternative to conventional roofing materials, particularly in challenging weather conditions.

How does elZinc address client needs for customisation, such as unique roofing shapes or façade elements?

Due to zinc’s flexibility and the wider coil widths we provide, we can accommodate a wide range of architectural designs, be it domes, conical roofs, eyebrow roofs, or highly parametric structures. The metal behaves almost like a fabric, allowing us to create intricate shapes without compromising structural integrity. Our technical support team works closely with architects and contractors to develop detailed design solutions and installation plans tailored to each project. This hands-on collaboration ensures design intent is maintained right through to execution.

How does elZinc contribute to long-term environmental performance?

Zinc is one of the most sustainable building materials available today. It is a living metal, meaning it develops a natural protective patina over time, which makes it self-healing and corrosion-resistant. This translates into extremely low maintenance over its lifespan. From an environmental standpoint, zinc has a very low energy footprint during production and is 100 percent recyclable, so even after 80 to 100 years of use, the material can be recovered and reused without losing quality. These characteristics align well with the green building movement and the increasing demand for environmentally responsible materials.

How about durability and resistance to corrosion? Are there any particular challenges you’ve had to address in the Indian context?

Zinc’s resistance to corrosion is one of its strongest features, and it holds up very well in diverse Indian climates from coastal zones to dry inland areas. The material’s natural patina is a barrier against pollutants and moisture, effectively preventing rust and corrosion. Moreover, if the surface is scratched or damaged, it usually self-heals within 6 to 8 months by re-patinating the exposed area. elZinc products also come with high UV resistance (Class 4), which makes them ideal for all exterior applications, whether vertical façades or sloped roofing.

elZinc India has partnered with Shieldcraft Buildex Limited. How has this collaboration enhanced your market presence and delivery in India?

Our partnership with Shieldcraft Buildex Limited has been instrumental in establishing elZinc in the Indian market. Shieldcraft brought the brand to India about four years ago and has built a solid distribution and service network. Zinc is not just a material, it is part of an architectural solution. That’s why our tagline is “Designing with elZinc.” Shieldcraft supports this philosophy by offering product supply, design consultation, system engineering, and technical support. They train and certify contractors and fabricators, ensuring that installations meet international standards. Their work across the supply chain ensures consistent quality and helps us deliver successful outcomes for architects, contractors, and developers alike.

What’s your vision for elZinc in India over the next few years?

Our vision is to redefine how architectural metal is perceived and used in India. We want to educate the market on zinc’s benefits—not just its durability and sustainability but also its potential as a creative medium for architectural expression. As awareness grows, we expect increased adoption in high-end residential, commercial, institutional, and heritage restoration projects. We aim to become the go-to solution for premium roofing and façade systems that combine performance, elegance, and environmental responsibility.
