Our advanced R&D centre is the most advanced laboratory in the world for testing chemistry, microstructures, and hardness profiles, says Balaji VV, MD of Tecknoweld Alloys Group.
Can you brief us on your portfolio in welding?
Tecknoweld Alloys India is the world’s biggest wear-resistant plate manufacturer, catering to industries in 35 countries on six continents. Specifically, we mainly deal with hard surfaces through the CNC welding process. Talking about our manufacturing speciality, Tecknoweld Ultra plates are manufactured with an open arc process that is uniquely developed in-house. This process employs CNC/PLC-controlled systems that ensure uniform coating thickness and bead width.
How do you assess the durability and temperature resistance of welded products?
An ASTM test rig specially designed for this purpose ensures durability at room temperature and at elevated temperatures up to 1100oC. ASTM G65 Procedure A is followed for Abrasive wear. Particle impact abrasion was also tested using an ASTM G76 test rig.
Which Engineered composite products do you offer for mining and concrete applications?
For Mining applications, we offer best-in-class engineered products that don’t just add value to the performance of the machine but also improve operational reliability. Some of our key engineered composite products are already deployed at sites for better performance.
Our CTC 6000 has given the best performance in iron ore, copper, uranium, and diamond mining around the globe. With coal applications, our Ultra Plate 3000 HP lasted a long time. Our Ultra Plate 3000 is designed to withstand extreme wet slurry abrasion for cement and concrete applications. Our Minex range products are newly designed for extreme wear applications in iron ore, bauxite, copper ore, diamond, uranium, and many more minerals.
How does it improve the equipment’s performance efficiency?
The extreme wear resistance of our wear plates increases the life of parts in mining and material handling by 6–15 times compared to manganese steel, QT steel, stainless steel, Ni-Hard, Hi-Chrome, and other conventional wear plates. Due to the extreme wear resistance capability, the thickness of the components is reduced considerably, which has improved the operational efficiency of machines.
Please talk about your R&D capacities.
Tecknoweld Lab has the most advanced research lab in the world for testing the chemistry, microstructure, and hardness profile of ASTM G65 and G76 at room temperature and elevated temperature. It has NABL accreditation.
Further, we are introducing a wet slurry abrasion test rig for ash and concrete slurry, a salt spray test for corrosion, and a hot hardness testing facility.
