The Hari Shankar Singhania Elastomer and Tyre Research Institute (HASETRI) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the world’s first accredited Proficiency Testing Provider (PTP) for Rolling Resistance Tests, as bestowed by the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).

This notable certification, aligned with ISO 17043:2010 standards, encompasses the testing of three pivotal categories: C1 (passenger car tyres), C2 (light truck tyres), and C3 (heavy truck tyres). HASETRI’s accreditation, valid from November 30th, 2023, to November 29th, 2025, solidifies its position as a trailblaser in proficiency testing, underscoring its unwavering commitment to excellence in the domain of elastomer and tyre research.

The recognition is a testament to HASETRI’s relentless dedication to quality and innovation, epitomised by the rigorous evaluation of various parameters within the Chemical and Mechanical sub-disciplines. Raghupati Singhania, President of HASETRI, expressed his pride in the organisation’s success, emphasising that the accreditation reflects their continuous pursuit of excellence and commitment to setting global standards in personnel competency. He highlighted the instrumental role played by HASETRI’s dedicated R&D team of scientists and engineers, deeply involved in advancing technology for tyres and rubber products in India.

The accreditation, spanning two years, positions HASETRI at the forefront of proficiency testing prowess, showcasing its expertise in employing simulation and prediction techniques to optimise product performance and design cycle time. The accreditation process, a formal recognition of technical proficiency, involves evaluations by external parties adhering to international standards. It serves as a critical tool for National Accreditation Bodies to assess the competence of accredited laboratories.

Situated in Mysuru, Karnataka, HASETRI operates as an independent research and testing laboratory and holds recognition as a Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Beyond its recent accreditation as a Proficiency Test Provider, the institute already holds accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards for Chemical and Mechanical Testing of Rubber and Rubber Products. HASETRI continues to strive for excellence, contributing to the advancement of technical manpower and cutting-edge technologies in the rubber and allied industries, earning world-class recognition in quality testing.
