As the construction industry shifts towards more sustainable and resilient building methods, Hindalco Everlast is setting new standards for roofing solutions with its unique use of aluminium – a lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and infinitely recyclable metal.
How does your company prioritise sustainability in roofing solutions, considering both material selection and installation processes?
Sustainability promotes a circular economy, and because aluminium is rust-free, it can be recycled indefinitely, earning it the nickname “wonder metal”. As a result, aluminium is an essential component of any long-lasting architectural design. Aluminium helps to reduce the recurring costs associated with the frequent replacement of sheets due to corrosion in conventional roofing choices. Aluminium roofing is lighter, making fabricating, modifying, and moving about easier. For example, Hindalco Everlast Aluminium roofing is a popular choice for rooftop solar installations. Furthermore, many government buildings, iconic infrastructure, railway stations, heritage wings and many more are already adorned with Hindalco Everlast Aluminium roofing sheets for their speedier, long-lasting and sustainable aspects and are serving as aesthetic, safe and sustainable shelter.
How does Hindalco Everlast address critical maintenance challenges and increasing recurring costs?
The major challenge or recurring cost arises on account of damage to roofing due to rusting, especially at crevice areas which spread across the span of roofing sheets. Hindalco Everlast offers virgin Aluminium roofing sheets which are 100 percent rustproof, as the cross-section is Aluminium and not only a coating. Thus, Aluminium roofing sheet is preferred choice of roofing to many aggressive industries like Steel, Casting, coke ovens, Coal Storage, Cold Storage, textiles, Paper, Dairy, Animal Husbandry, Ports, Tea, Solar modules, Leather and many more.
Can you elaborate on any recent innovations in roofing technology that enhance both durability and energy efficiency?
Hindalco is a pioneer in aluminium roofing in India and a metallurgical expert with a strong R&D team. Our unique Hi Crest profile offers a perfect combination of higher strength and wider coverage over conventional profiles. A special alloy makes Hi Crest even stronger and the best fit for solar rooftop applications. Furthermore, aluminium roofing-grade alloys moderate internal temperatures, making them ideal for cold storage and temperature-controlled warehouses.
How does your company ensure the integration of roofing products with other construction elements, fostering synergy in building solutions?
Dead load is an important consideration in any building construction, and aluminium has a 2-3 times lower dead load than conventional materials, allowing for greater flexibility in handling and installation. With decreased dead load, aluminium still has a high strength-to-weight ratio depending on the alloy, temper, design, and thickness combination. As a metal conglomerate, we have five rolled product facilities with a capacity of 470 ktpa, as well as an integrated and in-house supply chain for raw materials ranging from bauxite to alumina, smelting, casting, and finished products. This aids in the smooth transportation of material and cushioning against market fluctuations, making Everlast a resourceful and dependable roofing brand for customers. Also, with a legacy of over 40 years, we have built a strong team of business partners and vendors to meet all roofing industry needs while always maintaining customer expectations at the forefront and making the customer journey a pleasant experience rather than simply a purchase of roofing sheets.
How do you address the growing demand for customisable roofing solutions for diverse architectural styles and environmental conditions?
With Hindalco’s launch of a new brand identity, we have ventured into a series of new businesses and value-added products and further heavily invested in the complete value chain of Aluminium which ensures we are fully equipped and future-ready for all probable industry demands. With prior trends and continuous customer engagement, we seek insights from customers. Our massive capacity buildup in upstream and downstream products ensures we can meet all probable industry demands for aluminium solutions. With prior trends, we seek ongoing insight from customers and co-create solutions, which are supported by our robust Hindalco Innovation Centre and Aditya Birla Science & Technology Centre, to develop better goods and solutions. A special emphasis has been given to public infrastructure projects, which are at the heart of government initiatives for the redevelopment and construction of world-class and aspirational designs for airports, railway stations, convention centres, etc., and with aluminium as a wonder metal, it’s an integral part of seamless roofing for the majority of airports.
Please discuss your approach to quality control throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring reliability and longevity in roofing installations.
We adhere to strict quality standards consistent with BIS requirements and a three-point inspection process before packaging and delivery. Quality samples are verified at every stage, from casting to coil to completed product, to guarantee the specified mechanical and chemical qualities and surface finish.
