Henkel has come up with its own MRO and NVH Laboratories at the Innovation centre in Pune to focus on growing segments in the industry.

With the aim to focus on the big growth segments in the area of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) market and especially in India, Henkel is coming up with a fully designed MRO laboratory at its Innovation Center located in Pune. In addition to the MRO laboratory, Henkel has also taken a bold step to have its own NVH lab.

“Henkel has been one of the leading brands in the world when it comes to adhesives. But we are also into sectors like LEDs, glass fitters, OSPs and much more. With the new MRO lab, we intend to develop more products that can meet the needs of our local customers. This lab will also be the ideal place to test the material of the products in house, before using them real time,” said Pradyumna Ingle, Business Director, General Industry, and Henkel India.

Speaking about the effects of the use of adhesives on the structure of the product,  Jerry Perkins, Global Head of General Industry Adhesives, Henkel Group said, “The use of adhesives will bring in a significant reduction in the use of metals. However the structural integrity of the product is maintained. We at Henkel are keen on keeping the sustainability uncompromised.”With the NVH lab that has been installed at the Innovation Center in Pune, Henkel plans to study and modify the noise and vibration characteristics of vehicles. The adhesives that are used are modified to absorb the noise and the vibrations. This will result in increasing the productivity of the product.

Pradyumna Ingle also talked about the new endeavours that Henkel is taking up. Henkel is in LED market providing the best end to end solutions. “We provide solutions from fabrication to fixing. Sealing of bulbs and thermal management are our major areas of concern. But we are also coming up with solutions for assembling and maintenance of LEDs,” he said. Henkel is also keen to make the most of the upcoming  Smart Technology. “It is a new opportunity for us and we look towards it with great positivity. Earlier we provided adhesives for the touch pads. Now that the touch screen technology is booming, we are into providing touch screen bonding, glass covers” added Jerry Perkins.

The upcoming plant at Jejuri is in full swing and the company will start production by mid 2017, and subsequently increase the production hence. The plant will represent as the largest of the Henkel adhesive plants located across India.
