Eni Lubricants is the biggest industrial house in Italy and amongst the largest in the world. With presence in over 100 countries, the group offers 400 plus variants of lubricants to consumers. In India, Apar Industries Ltd, a six decade year old company, among the most established companies in India has tied up with Eni for manufacturing & marketing world class lubricants.R Vinod Khanna, Deputy General Manager – Industrial Sales & Marketing, Apar Industries Limited – Eni Lubricants Division talks about his company’s products and much more.
How does your range of Industrial lubricants enhance the efficiency and life of the equipments?
Industrial lubricants are used in a large variety of equipment and applications. It deals with all types of products designed for the lubrication of industrial machines, such as hydraulic systems, turbines, compressors, bearings, open and closed gears, machine tool slideway, metal working fluids and industrial transmissions. Utility wise a major stake in this above mentioned categories is that of hydraulic oils.
Eni ARNICA AS Hydraulic oil Series is a state of the art, new generation, high viscosity index hydraulic fluids designed to meet the needs of modern, high-pressure industrial and construction equipment hydraulic systems. ENI ARNICA AS Series helps in increasing hydraulic efficiency, two to three times increase in the drain interval compared to ENI Hydraulic AW series, reduced power consumption of 3-5 per cent thanks to the Synthetic technology base oils and increased machine output, thereby resulting in savings to customers. Also the reduced fluid friction of these Synthetic Hydraulic and gear oils helps in improving hydraulic and gear efficiency.
From the angle of carbon footprint how does your product reduce environmental risks?
Environmental awareness is increasing everywhere in the world and in every sector of human activity. In the lubricants too, environmental impact is a matter of concern. For this purpose a category of environmentally preferable lubricants has been devised. Environmentally preferable Lubricants are those that are readily biodegradable, not bio-accumulative and with low aquatic toxicity. In these last years, a new approach is emerging that concerns the use of lubricant to improve the efficiency of machinery obtaining a reduction of fuel consumption and thus the greenhouse emissions. For Example: – Eni OTE GT 15 is the first energy saving oil for turbo machinery.
The usage of Eni OTE GT 15 on a 30 MW natural gas turbine allows to:
- Reduce CO2 emissions of 240 ton/year
- Save 120,000 SMC/year of natural gas
- Reduce mechanical viscous losses from 5 per cent to 15 per cent
- Increase the overall machinery efficiency upto 0,3 per cent
What are the Eni products for the heavy duty diesel and mining customers?
Eni has developed a complete range of lubricants which guarantee high efficiency, reliability and protection for heavy-duty diesel commercial vehicles. The i-Sigma engine Oil line includes products employing reliable, tried-and-tested formulations as well as leading-edge technologies, suitable for modern engines such as those equipped with exhaust gas after-treatment systems as well. In particular, a series of lubricants have been specially formulated to provide better fuel economy, high protection in any weather conditions, respect for the environment and long-lasting performance. ENI also offers a series of specialised products such as transmission oils, greases and coolants which are able to satisfy any additional application requirements.
Given your vast product portfolio, which range of products has been more successful and commercially viable?
The synthetic technology lubricants have become more successful due to its high performance at a marginally increased cost than the mineral range. In fact, the synthetic technology engine oils and hydraulic oil rival the performance of fully synthetic products, and are so highly refined that their properties almost match that of the Group IV synthetics. Eni’s i-Sigma series of synthetic engine oils and Eni Arnica AS Synthetic hydraulic oils have numerous references of reduced wear, extended drain interval and most importantly fuel saving.
What are some of the certifications that add credibility to your manufacturing plant?
