JCB LiveLink is designed to help improve productivity, maximise uptime and make it easy to manage the health of the machines by providing essential operational data.
Innovation is one of the cornerstones of JCB’s business strategy. The latest has been their foray into the Internet of Things (IoT) space that is giving unmatched benefits to customers and end users through the use of digital technology. JCB has invested in developing an innovative technology and pioneered this space through an indigenously developed solution known as LiveLink. This has been done through the usage of IoT and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication.
JCB LiveLink: An advanced telematics technology
JCB LiveLink is an advanced telematics technology that not only gives users the location of their equipment at all times, but also relays back all machine related information to the customer. “JCB LiveLink is designed to help improve productivity, maximise uptime and make it easy to manage the health of the machines by providing essential operational data,” states Jasmeet Singh, Head – Corporate Communications and External Relations, JCB India Ltd.
Real-time information available
JCB LiveLink enables users to get SMS alerts on their mobile phones or smart devices regarding service alerts, operations and security of their machines. The information is available in real time regarding the health of the machine including engines and gives vital information to the customer in terms of number of hours the machine has been operational, service intervals, fuel levels, malfunctions if any, etc. It thus enables better site management and equipment utilisation.
“Livelink technology in JCB machines benefit the customers in better fleet management which leads to better expense management and timely completion of work, informs Singh. This information makes a huge difference in the efficiency and costs of the entire operation.
Elements that are keys in maximising the machine productivity:
• Service: Accurate hours monitoring leads to improved maintenance planning as machines can be maintained at the most convenient time for your operation. Remotely monitor machine health for any malfunction.
• Operation: The fuel reporting system enables operators to see actual fuel consumption, improving control of fuel stocks and planning of fuel orders. Identify and remove wasteful idle time, improving utilisation and cutting fuel costs.
• Security: Enables the user to track the location and also receive the tow away alerts.
Geo-fencing and time-fencing
JCB LiveLink’s geo-fencing and time-fencing feature gives out SMS alerts whenever the machine moves out of the designated, pre-determined geographical areas or works outside the pre-designated time limits. The machine through the hardware and the mobile network will give out an alert when operated beyond the designated timings or the geo fenced areas. To monitor these machines in real time, JCB has set up a world-class command centre at its India headquarters located in Ballabgarh facility. Dealerships have also set up similar LiveLink command centres to ensure that real time support is provided to the customers. Over 50,000 JCB machines are already fitted with this technology, Jasmeet informs.
