The new electric model represents the latest generation of boom lifts, featuring compact dimensions, lower operating costs, and full rough terrain capabilities.

JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation division [NYSE:OSK] and a leading global manufacturer of mobile elevating work platforms and telehandlers, unveiled the EC450AJ Compact, a new articulated electric boom lift, at Bauma.

It is ideal for congested job sites since it performs well in limited places and is lightweight and compact, making it easy to move and manoeuvre. The lithium-ion battery-powered equipment emits no emissions and produces little noise, while simultaneously lowering operating expenses. It is manufactured at the JLG factory in Italy and was designed in Europe with the same user-friendly controls as all other JLG boom lift models.

The EC450AJ Compact comes standard with 10kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) batteries, with the option to upgrade to 20kWh for greater run time and peace of mind in tough settings. The batteries are tested to last the life of the machine and come with complete warranty coverage, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership. Recharging is quick and simple with the basic 230VAC 1-phase on-board battery charger and the optional 400VAC 3-phase charger. When both charger options are installed, charging times are substantially decreased. The lithium batteries also have integrated heaters, which allow for charging and efficient operation in sub-zero conditions.

Lightweight and compact

The EC450AJ Compact is only 2m wide and has a true zero tail swing, allowing for outstanding on-site agility and operation in even the most restricted places. As one of the lightest versions in its class, it is easy and economical to carry on a conventional truck bed; two units can fit on a low-bed trailer.

To improve visibility in low-light circumstances, the EC450AJ Compact comes with an optional lighting system that illuminates the floor around the machine and features an illuminated platform control panel. These characteristics help operators load, unload, and navigate obstacles in dimly illuminated areas.

The new boom lift incorporates a 4WD AC electric drive system and an oscillating axle, giving it outstanding grip on tough terrain. It also includes two-wheel steering on the front axle and can run on slopes of up to 45 percent for site transfer and 5° when raised, providing better access and versatility. The EC450AJ Compact also includes 355° turntable rotation, non-marking, non-directional tough terrain foam-filled tires as standard, and a platform capacity of 250kg.

The new three-entry platform increases operator flexibility on the job site. The platform may be removed without disturbing the control column, resulting in much shorter maintenance times. The platform includes industry-leading features like JLG Skyline enhanced operator and control panel protection and ClearSky SmartFleet™ telematics, as well as JLG platform controls that are strong, ergonomic, and user-friendly.
