JSW PSC is a non-metallic product comprising of more than 90 per cent glass with silicates and alumino- silicates of lime. Use of slag in concrete is recognized by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design).

JSW Cement has launched a cement plant at Salboni in West Bengal which manufactures premium cement product Portland Slag Cement (PSC). JSW PSC is blended cement confirming to IS 455, wherein some portion of OPC is replaced with ground granulated blast furnace slag, to make the structures long lasting and durable. JSW PSC is produced with superior quality slag produced from JSW Steel manufacturing plant, conforming to IS: 12089, Slag is a by-product from controlled process of iron production. “It is a non-metallic product comprising of more than 90 per cent glass with silicates and alumino- silicates of lime. Use of slag in concrete is recognized by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design),” says Lopamudra Sengupta, Vice President Technical, JSW Cement.
JSW PSC provides higher long term strength
JSW PSC gives better resistance against aggressive chemicals such as chlorides, sulphates and carbon dioxide. JSW PSC provides higher long term strength as compared to OPC and PPC. JSW PSC helps in reducing thermal cracks due to lower heat of hydration as compared to OPC. It also reduces shrinkage cracks as compared to OPC and PPC. It Improves workability, gives smoother finish and better cohesion. JSW PSC is a sustainable and green product. As production of PSC ensures the conservation of natural resource (limestone), savings in energy in production process and limiting the emission of carbon dioxide, it is regarded as eco friendly cement or green cement.
Role of JSW PSC
JSW PSC can be used in all types of civil engineering works both structural and non structural applications. In fact it has got a wide spectrum of application compared to OPC. OPC is not suitable for works such as mass concrete, industrial structures, marine structures, effluent and sewage treatment plants. Whereas, PSC is ideal cement in these works and thus making it as all purpose cement. JSW PSC can also contribute in manufacturing of High Performance Concrete (HPC).
The product has higher demand and is available in Indian market. One can purchase it online or through dealer stores.
