Knauf, the world’s leading manufacturer of building materials and pioneer of construction solutions, has taken a big step towards empowering the construction profession by opening its first specialised training centre in Gorakhpur. This upskilling effort, developed in conjunction with Pratham and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), aims to provide local talent with advanced abilities in plasterboard and ceiling installations, thereby satisfying the industry’s expanding demand for skilled workers.

The launch event was attended by prominent industry leaders such as Nilesh Makhija, General Manager at Nagarjuna Construction Company Ltd; Sanjay Bansal, Promoter of Opsis; Ajit Solanki, Pratham State Head for Uttar Pradesh; and Rajesh Thokale, Director of Pratham Skilling, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood.

With the help of Pratham and NSDC, this upskilling project aims to reduce the skill gap in the construction industry by making education more accessible and focused. Through this relationship, Knauf continues to contribute to the future of the construction workforce by ensuring that installers are up to date on industry standards and procedures. This effort is consistent with Knauf’s larger objective of encouraging innovation and professionalism in the field.

On the occasion, Sumit Bidani, CEO of Knauf India says, “We, at Knauf, are committed to nurturing people through education. Our new Skill Centre in Gorakhpur is a step forward in providing a platform to the workforce by equipping them with requisite skills to make them future-ready so that they can contribute towards the growth of the construction industry.”
