KNR-Harsha JV to develop Banhardih Coal block with 34.5 MT reserves

KNR Constructions and Harsha Construction JV have obtained a ₹4,800 crore contract to develop and run Jharkhand’s Banhardih coal block, with 34.5 MT reserves, for six years.
KNR Constructions (KNRCL), a joint venture with Harsha Construction, has obtained a short-term contract to develop and operate the Banhardih coal mining block in Jharkhand. Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, an NTPC subsidiary in a joint venture with Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL), has awarded the contract to the KNRCL-HCPL joint venture.
KNR Constructions owns 74 percent of the joint venture, with Harsha Constructions holding the remaining 26 percent. The ₹4,800 crore contract comprises a 12-month development phase and a five-year operational period.
The Banhardih coal block has estimated reserves of 34.50 million tonnes.
