How do you see the market ahead in your industry?
The market has had its highs and lows for the past year or so, and where realty is concerned, the forecast has been stagnant for a while. However, looking at industrial and infrastructure projects booming in every part of the country, construction industry looks promising. Railways, airports, metros, dams, roads and high wielding industrial projects are the future and that is where construction and its allied industry will grow.
We are looking at these infrastructure projects to push through in the immediate future and bring with it, opportunities to showcase the best of the industry. Also, with regularised construction in real estate, the need for more durable solutions that add decades to the construction is going to be the need of the day.
How useful is your Krystol Waterstop Grout?
Krystol Waterstop grout is a unique crystalline grout used to create an internal or external waterstop at construction joints, pipe penetrations, tie-holes etc. This product works with water and un-hydrated cement particles to form insoluble needle-shaped crystals that fill capillary pores and micro-cracks in the concrete and block the pathways for water and waterborne contaminants. These crystals permanently fill the pores, capillaries and hairline cracks of the concrete mass, and continue to grow throughout the concrete, reaching lengths of many inches over time. Once the concrete has cured, the crystalline chemicals sit dormant until another dose of water (such as through a new crack) causes the chemical reaction to begin again. The ability to reactivate in the presence of water gives Krystol-treated concrete the ability to ‘self-seal’. When cracks form due to curing shrinkage, settling, seismic activity, etc., water entering through them causes new crystals to form and grow, blocking and filling the cracks. Any moisture introduced over the lifespan of the concrete will initiate crystallisation, ensuring permanent waterproofing protection.
Could you comment on how different is Kryton’s waterproofing solutions from others available in same line of business?
There are various ways in which Kryton’s waterproofing solutions are unique. The first is that we have the only truly permeability reducing admixtures which work under high hydrostatic pressure (PRAH). One of the most respected concrete bodies ACI has clearly defined the standards of PRAH and PRAN (permeability reducing admixture for non-hydrostatic conditions). It explains how Kryton products are not just pore blockers but reduce the permeability. They work under high hydrostatic pressure and still keep the structure waterproof.
Kryton’s waterproofing solutions are also unique in terms of reaction as they react with cement and not by products of cement or lime. As the presence of un-hydrated cement is assured through the life of the structure, Kryton products have the required chemistry to react with them for the life of the structure. These two defining qualities, has made Kryton a brand name loved by architects, engineers and consultants across India.
