Ever since the real estate started witnessing boom in the vertical construction, demand for tower cranes is ever increasing. Today, tower cranes have become an important part of high-rise constructions.
Mumbai-based Everest Engineering Equipment Pvt Ltd has emerged as one of the key players in tower cranes segment. The company is specialised in offering project solutions related to tower cranes and passenger hoists for applications like power plants, cement plants, steel plants, dams, high-rise buildings etc.
Everest Engineering exclusively distributes FineHope and SYM electric luffing cranes in India. SYM and FineHope cranes are equipped with electronic safety system, speed control, PLC, VFD etc. Fine Hope tower cranes are available in 32 – 200 tonnes whereas SYM luffing tower cranes are available in 8 – 32 tonnes capacities. Other products distributed by Everest Engineering in India include GJJ mast climbers, passenger hoists and tower crane anti-collision systems.
Explaining the advantages of luffing cranes, Everest Engineering Equipment’s Managing Director PV Ramdev said, “With a shorter counter jib, multiple cranes can be erected in a short distance especially on the lift core. Chances of rear collision of the luffing cranes are negligible if they are working in shorter radius. Further, with the luffing jib, multiple cranes can work on high-rise construction projects without the collision of the jib. Moreover, with the luffing feature, it is highly safe, if the crane is working in areas with high wind velocity.”
He further explains, “The luffing jibs can be raised up during the heavy wind to free flow without causing damage to the crane structure or the jib during working or during the site holidays. By allowing the wind to free flow, pressure on the masts and jib of the crane is greatly minimised. High wind pressure is extremely prevalent in Delhi-NCR, Northern Indian region during peak summer, and also in seashore areas during monsoon. This can act as a lateral force which can pass on to the structure of the construction building consequently effect the strength and life of the building. However, with luffing feature, allowing the wind to free flow, the pressure is extensively reduced.”
During the site holidays the luffing cranes can luff up to rotate freely according to the wind direction and can avoid any collision, thus safest in high-rise structures.
Everest has commissioned 2 units of 10-tonne SYM cranes to Lodha Group Mumbai which are working for construction of 220 metres high, 65-storey buildings. The SYM cranes come with 43 metres freestanding height as compared to 33-36 metres of conventional tower cranes. Another 4 units of luffing cranes of 10-tonne and 8-tonne are working with Capacite Infra Projects Ltd in Parel, Mumbai for 280-metre height building.
