Kindly walk us through your company’s profile

Sicoma India Pvt. Ltd. Is a 100 percent owned subsidiary of our parent group Sicoma s.r.l., Italy. Our parent company is an 80-year old company with a rich history in manufacturing of Concrete mixers and allied products. We are one of the oldest founded companies in Europe with global presence. Sicoma India established its India operations in 2008 and set up its assembly plant in 2012 in Bangalore. Today, Sicoma India operates from two state-of-the-art owned manufacturing facilities in Bangalore and Tumkur. Sicoma is one of the most preferred supplier of Concrete Mixers (both twin shaft and planetary) to OEM and end customers.

How are the present market trends impacting the demand for pre-cast technology in India’s construction and Infra projects? 

For sure the infrastructure project is gradually adapting to pre-cast technology wherever it permits. We are seeing an overwhelming number of enquiries for our Planetary mixers (used predominantly) in pre-cast segment. As and when projects are adapting to pre-cast technology, we are receiving more and more enquiries for modern technology such as concrete distribution system, dozing systems etc.

How have you been successfully meeting the market demands of high quality machines amid cost competencies due to pandemic? 

Sicoma is known to produce Mixers of global standards. There will never be any compromise on this. It indeed is a challenge to meet rising manufacturing costs over the last couple of years. As a consequence, we are seeing rising costs of P&E in construction industry.  

What are the present challenges in the construction equipment segment? What measures have you been taking to overcome the same? 

High manufacturing costs coupled with slow movement in market are extremely difficult times for OEM’s. Prices of raw materials such as steel, copper have hit through the roof. This has put enormous pressure on prices of finished goods. Another major concern factor in is exponential rise in shipping costs. For the companies depending on imports of raw materials and components, it is turning out to be extremely difficult. We are looking at reducing our dependency on imports. Fortunately the markets are showing good signs of recovery. Hopefully we don’t see any more Covid induced lockdowns.

With rapid increase in industrialisation and urbanisation, how do you foresee the future of construction equipment, especially concrete equipment & machinery? 

India is a vast country which has immense potential for growth. Industrialisation is key to any major economy and it is no different to us. Infrastructure projects will play a huge role in taking our nation forward. Therefore we see a good requirement of P&E in the construction industry.

What are your key and upcoming offerings to this sector? Who are your primary customers? 

Our key offerings are our Concrete Mixers (both twin shaft and planetary). Our primary customers are all OEM Concrete Batching Plant and Pre-cast Equipment manufacturers.  We are now also offering Concrete Distribution System and Dozing System in the Indian market.
