MEAI-Ahmedabad Chapter’s 28th Foundation Day increases awareness of India’s energy transition, critical minerals, and the application of AI in the mining industry.

The Ahmedabad Chapter of the Mining Engineers’ Association of India (MEAI) celebrated its 28th Foundation Day. Established in 1997, the Ahmedabad Chapter of MEAI has finished a historic 27-year journey, setting records in the mining sector.

On this occasion, Shri Rajnath Ram, Advisor (Energy), NITI Aayog, Govt. of India, delivered a memorial lecture in honour of the Chapter’s Founder Chairman, Late Shri B K Antia, in the presence of Shri S.N. Mathur, President, MEAI, Shri L.S. Shekhawat, Vice-President (III) of MEAI, and Shri Swagat Ray, Chairman of the Ahmedabad Chapter, as well as other government officials, stakeholders, and MEAI council members.

A technical seminar on critical minerals and the use of AI in the mining industry followed the memorial speech. The session sought to provide professionals with cutting-edge information and breakthroughs in these sectors, ensuring they remain ahead of market trends and innovations.

Shri S.N. Mathur, President of MEAI, stated in his address that MEAI has assisted all mining professionals across the country in improving their knowledge and abilities through seminars, workshops, training sessions, and other activities.

Shri Swagat Ray, Chairman of the Ahmedabad Chapter, says on this occasion, “The celebration is our commitment to make a positive impact on the mining industry and society as a whole. By staying at the forefront of best practices, environmental stewardship, and safety standards, we anticipate shaping a more responsible and efficient future for mining operations.”

Following the memorial lecture and technical session, the Ahmedabad Chapter had its 28th Annual General Meeting, which included the Chapter’s Annual Awards event.
