Putzmeister is one of the major players in the concrete machine manufacturing industry for more than 60 years. Having its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Verna, Goa, Putzmeister Concrete Machines Pvt Ltd manufactures an entire range of internationally acclaimed equipment and machineries. Putzmeister pumps have been deployed at various landmark projects across the country. Here, Wilfried A Theissen, Managing Director, Putzmeister Concrete Machines Pvt Ltd draws attentions towards mechanisation and bigger machine which would help improve the quality and speed of work.
Optimistic about growth
Speaking about the growth of the concrete industry, Wilfried said, “The past 3 years have shown a decrease in the sales of construction machinery of 30 per cent as compared to 2011. Fortunately this downward trend seems to have stopped. The moral of the industrial players is much better than 6 months ago and the trend for 2016-2018 looks good. However a couple of major reforms like land bill, GST and easier access to credits need to be pushed through to make it become a reality. The growth potential of the Indian market is very good. Let us see if we can get the general conditions implemented to support this growth.”
Need to understand mechanisation
Emphasising on the buying factors that a buyer should consider before making a decision of procuring concrete equipment, Wilfried says, “The buyer should understand that mechanisation would help him improve the quality and the speed of work. He would be less dependent on labour and their needs and requirements. A buyer should not just look at price but the support he would get from his supplier. In 3-5 years ahead, this would help a buyer to buy the right equipment not only for his immediate needs but to be prepared for future requirements as well.”
Innovations in concrete machines
Focusing on the major innovations happening in the area of concrete machines, Wilfried says, “The current trends in the market are going towards more mechanisation and towards bigger machines. The speed of execution will be of essence and the quality expectations of the end customer are constantly increasing. The customers want from their suppliers not only a machine but also support on the job side, to take care of the fleet management. Machine operator interface will become a must. The electronic revolution is unstoppable.”
Lack of skilled workforce
According to Wilfried the Indian industry is definitely mature enough to cope with increased mechanisation. However, he points out that the country is still lacking the required skill development of the operators. “The industry together with the government is taking the necessary steps to overcome this issue and is launching skill development programs on a massive scale over the coming month,” he adds.
Putzmeister’s products and solutions
Commenting on why a buyer should go for concrete machines offered by Putzmeister, Wilfried says, “We are always pioneers in innovation and customer support. Our machines have worldwide unbeaten track records of outstanding achievements. We give customers turnkey solutions along the entire value chain of your operation and therefore maximum customer satisfaction.”
