In the next two year, we will be investing around Rs 700 crore for expanding our Group’s business out of which more than Rs 600 crore will be invested in rental.
Rakesh Modi,
Managing Director, Mtandt Group
Mtandt targets 60% growth in turnover over financial year 2015-16. Could you discuss your strategies to achieve it?
Strategy of any business is to make the customers earn money. Once you make it sure, you earn money. We have made significant investment in the new technologies and new machines. On the management side, we have had changes in the management in the last 24 months and have delegated authorities to the grass root levels. We have tried to make the organisation more efficient and put in more human resources in place. We have increased our market presence by strengthening our sales and distribution network – today we have around 80 dealers.
Apart from increasing your presence in the local market, are you going abroad too?
Yes, we recently signed up for Mtandt Sri Lanka which will be operational from January 2017. We are already servicing Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh and will be in Afghanistan commencing 2018.
Can you tell us more about the functioning of Mtandt Sri Lanka?
We have floated a joint venture with a Sri Lankan company named Pro Lanka where we will be having 51 per cent stake. We will be setting up a 20,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility for scaffolding in Colombo and start our rental business too. The trading and renting will start in January whereas the manufacturing operation will begin in July. To start with, we will be producing around 100 tonne aluminium scaffolding per annum.
What is the year on year growth achieved in 2016 and what’s your outlook for 2017?
In the first 2 quarters of FY 2016, we have achieved 35 per cent growth. With the orders in hand, we will be achieving 60 per cent growth over the last year’s growth.
What are the new technologies you are bring in?
Recently we have introduced a scaffold range with a motorised platform which is completely indigenously developed by our Indian team. In Bauma Conexpo India 2016, we have introduced the no limit scaffolding system with our Swedish partner Monzon. We will also be launching an innovative product called portable road which allows faster commencement of any project. It will also be a boon for the logistics and transportation industry by enabling load carrying capacity of over 600 tonnes.
In 2017, we plan to give a new dimension to our product range by introducing innovative range of booms. It has perfect balance of technology and pricing as the product is designed by Magni in Italy and produced by Dingli in China.
What will be your role in this product development?
We are investing a huge amount in the product and we are putting it in the rental fleet so that our customers will get an experience of the new device and its benefits without any risk.
You are investing more in the rental market…
In the next two year, we will be investing around Rs 700 crore for expanding our Group’s business out of which more than Rs 600 crore will be invested in rental.
What gives you the competitive edge over others?
The biggest advantage is our 42 years experience. We know the customers requirement, understand the capabilities of our products and deliver the best solutions accordingly. Our efficiency is the second biggest advantage. We are one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of aluminium scaffold. Our rental operation is one of the most efficient operations. At the end of the day, if you can deliver the right solution at lower cost, you can win over the customer.
