Precast Concrete: The future of construction
.

Precast technology maintains uniform quality, brings in economy, eliminates problem of leakage and cracks, and reduces maintenance costs.
Srinivasa Reddy, Founder CEO, Arto Precast Concrete

The rapid growth and development of urban cities today call for shorter time lines and reduced cost in the construction sector proven technologies ensuring the highest standards, and uniformity in quality. These is the need of hour that is now effectively met by precast technology. Srinavasa Reddy, C.E.O, Arto Precast Concretebeing a civil engineer by profession speaks about the benefits of precast concrete and the current offerings by the company in the precast sector.

Benefits of using precast concrete
Sharing the benefits of using precast technology, Reddy, says, “Precast technology, by virtue of the process of casting under controlled circumstances, adheres to the highest standards of quality control. Production in a precast plant ensures effective curing and monitoring, unlike onsite pouring, which is affected by factors like dust, humidity, fluctuating temperatures, unreliable material, quality and workmanship.”

He further adds, “Precast technology maintains uniform quality, eliminates problem of leakage and cracks, and reduces maintenance costs, also brings in economy, Weather and fire resistant precast concrete is an all-weather construction material, which is equally effective in regions with freezing or scorching temperatures. It is also non -combustible, does not melt, and therefore, does not require additional fire proofing applications. Watertight cement mortar used with non shrink chemicals make precast structure water tight.”

Reddy feels that the adoption of newer technology is a must and should bring in betterment in construction industries. A person from the back ground of core civil knowledge from past 30 years, with a stupendous experience in civil constructions, Reedy is aware of the complete genuine construction difficulties at multiple points such as market price variation’s against procurement of raw materials, difficulty in availability of manpower, ever increasing labour costs, space constraint and water scarcity.

Long life and Low maintenance. Research has proven that precast elements can ensure more than a 100 year life cycle thereby reducing the life cycle cost of projects. Precast technology maintains uniform quality, eliminates problem of leakage and cracks, and reduces maintenancecosts.

Precast concrete offerings by Arto Precast
When asked about the offerings by Arto Precast, Reddy said, “Artoprecast delivers Precast turnkey solutions from design to on-site installation for projects in southern India. This reduces the hassle involved in various stages of the project. Along with the advantages carried by a precast technology, our turnkey solutions help optimizing the coordination across different aspects of the project.” He further added, “We manufacture the products which help in saving time and cost at the same time giving our clients a high quality product. In order to carry the rain water from cities to lakes, we manufacture ‘U’-shaped drains/Strom water drains/ box culverts of different sizes and shapes. Arto precast is also into manufacturing of light weight hollow core partation walls, which is a very good substitute in high rise residential and commercial buildings. As a result of its light weight it is very useful in seasmic zones, and can attain a cost saving on the overall structure approx. up to 5% on the over all cost. Another very important life line of any high rise building is a staircase, which we are manufacturing either a single flight or a dog legged stairs. The top finish in a precast building is so good that we can save on the top finishes like granite/marble or tiles, etc. which amounts to time and cost saving.” We also manufacture manholes/inspection chambers/Air value chambers are mainly used in water supply projects and underground drainage system.

For example to construct a brick manhole in a traditional way, you can imagine the kind of time and inconvenience it can cause to the public especially on busy roads, using Precast manholes the work can be completed in few hours, hence minimizing the inconvenience caused to the road users.

Reddy concludes saying, “In today’s situation, time is the essence of any project. That is why, precast is the only option to reduce the timeline in handing over the projects quickly. One can clearly summarize
