Odisha proposed upgradation of Rourkela airport

The Transport department has sent a proposal to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to upgrade Rourkela airport for 4C 1 CAT IFR operation. The proposed master plan envisages expansion of the runway to 2,700 metre in length and 45 metre in width with doppler very high frequency omni range (DVOR) and CAT 1 ILS for operation of big body aircraft like Airbus 320B737 during day and night. AAI defines CAT 1 operation as a precision instrument approach and landing with a decision height not lower than 60 m (200 ft) and with either a visibility not less than 800 m or a runway visual range not less than 550 m. The expansion of the airport requires 278 acre of land of SAIL and 44 acre of private land.

AAI awarded Bihta airport project

Construction work for a new civil enclave at the Bihta Air Force station near Patna will commence soon as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a work order to a Russian company for the project, a Bihar govt official said here on Saturday. The Russian firm The Joint Stock Company Industrial Association Vozrozhdenie will not only build a new integrated terminal building but also the IT system. The total construction cost of the airport is Rs 459 crore, which is 30.92 less than the estimated cost of Rs 665 crore. Out of this, Rs 438 crore will be spent on capital construction and Rs 21 crore on operation and maintenance

Preparations for MMRs third airport near Palghar underway

The Maharashtra government has taken its first steps towards building a third airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) at Vadhavan, where one of the biggest ports on India’s west coast is being constructed. The state government-run Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) began a pre-feasibility study for the development of a greenfield airport in the Palghar district. The state government is also planning to build a new city around the proposed airport in Palghar.

GMR to invest investing Rs 370 crore for cargo expansion

GMR Group in Hyderabad, is eyeing a significant rise in passenger traffic, projecting 50 million annually by FY31, up from the current 29 million in FY25. Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), said the company is investing Rs 370 crore to expand its existing cargo terminal and set up a new one, boosting cargo capacity to nearly 4 lakh tons annually. GHIAL is also exploring ways to enhance passenger handling capacity without significant capital expenditure while improving overall efficiency.

Dagadarthi airport will be ready by 2027

Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy announced that the proposed airport at Dagadarthi in Kavali Assembly constituency will in all probability be ready by 2027. The project is proposed on a whopping 1,379 acres of land, of which 669 acres is under government possession, while 710 acres is yet to be acquired. “Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is very particular about building this airport at Dagadarthi, which will be vital for the development of Nellore district,” said Mr. Prabhakar Reddy

Chennai Airport phase-2 to open by March 2026

Current Status: Project Update

The phase 2 expansion work of Chennai International Airport is on fast track and efforts are being made to avoid another delay. According to the AAI, which began the works in 2018 at an estimated Rs 2,467 crore, the objective was to enable the airport to handle 3.5 crore passengers a year, up from 2.3 crore at present. The works are spread over a 2.36 lakh square metre stretch. The project was planned in two phases. In the first phase, a new integrated terminal was constructed in a 1.36 lakh square metre stretch at Rs 1,260 crore. As per the revised deadline, the second portion of the new integrated terminal will be ready by early 2026 and will be open to passengers by March.

Hindalco to invest Rs 15,000 cr in Madhya Pradesh

Hindalco Industries has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Madhya Pradesh government to invest Rs 15,000 crore over the next two years. Hindalco's Managing Director Satish Pai stated, "In the next two years we will be investing about 15,000 crores just from the Hindalco side. And we will also be from the group side opening a large mine called Banda." Hindalco already has an extensive footprint in the state, with existing investments worth Rs 25,000 crore, primarily focused on its world-class aluminium smelter in Mahan, located in the Singrauli district.

Odisha to build four new airstrips

The Odisha government will develop four new airstrips in western Odisha, increasing the region’s total number of airports to eight. The new airstrips will be located at Jamadarpali (Sambalpur), Satibhata (Bargarh), Gotma (Nuapada), and Tusura (Balangir). Currently, western Odisha has four operational airports: Jeypore (Koraput), Veer Surendra Sai Airport (Jharsuguda), a small airport in Rourkela (Sundargarh district), and an airstrip at Utkela (Kalahandi district), all of which provide direct connectivity to Bhubaneswar.

Star Cement to invest Rs 3,200-crore in Assam

Ultratech Cement to invest Rs 1,800 crore in wires and cables

As part of its plan to expand its footprint in the construction value chain, Ultratech Cement announced its entry into the wires and cables segment by setting up a plant in Gujarat in the next two years. It has invested Rs 100 crore for this. It will invest Rs 1,800 crore. Ultratech Cement said in a statement that the plant will be set up near Bharuch in Gujarat and will be operational by December 2026. atech said this is in line with the company's "strategy to strengthen its position as a comprehensive building solutions provider.

Mamnoor airport to be completed in 30 months

Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said that the proposed airport at Mamnoor near Warangal will be completed within 30 months, provided the Telangana government hands over the required land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI). “It usually takes 36 months for the construction of an airport. Rammohan Naidu disclosed that the initial estimated cost for the airport’s development, including the terminal building and ancillary facilities, stands at Rs 500 crore. A detailed survey for terminal capacity and design will soon be conducted.

HAL to invest Rs 200 crore for Nashik airport runway
