In an interview with B2B Purchase, Hrishikesh Kulkarni, Director Marketing, XCMG India talks about the industry and the procurement practices.
Range of products for scaffolding industry
Speaking about the range of products that are offered by XCMG, Kulkarni says, “Our XCMG cranes product range includes truck cranes, crawler cranes, rough terrain cranes, all terrain cranes, self loading truck mounted cranes and tower cranes.”
The company also caters to capacity wise demands and has wheeled cranes from 12 tonnes to 12,000 tonnes and crawler cranes from 55 tonnes to 4,600 tonnes.
Why XCMG?
With a surplus production of cranes in the country, and the Chinese customers banking on the company designed cranes matching the European quality is an upper edge for XCMG. Kulkarni says, “Our cranes are accepted as very close to European cranes quality and performance wise by Chinese customers. In India we already have population of 500-plus cranes working for various projects. We have good after sales support through our engineers and parts warehouse where we stock crane parts. Our dealers too have the service engineers to cater to immediate service calls.”

He adds, “Globally cranes controls are provided with electronic controls. For some critical jobs even remote control functions are getting incorporated. Some manufacturers have innovated to produce crawler cranes with telescopic booms instead of lattice booms.”
Procurement practices and payment concerns
When asked about the procurement practices that adds to the final product, Kulkarni attributes it to the ERP service that the company has implemented. In addition to this, the practices as ISO certified and that adds to the value. He speaks, “We have implemented ERP for our procurement practices. Our practices are ISO certified which adds value by ensuring the quality of inward Raw material and vendor components.”
Throwing light on the payment concerns, Kulkarni says that the Indian clients normally enjoy credit periods from 30 days to one year. “Our payment terms are normally are through irrevocable Letter of Credits through reputed banks which helps us to deal with credit concerns,” concludes Kulkarni.
