RMC 2.0: Engineered mixes driving efficiency, sustainability & certification goals
.

From green building credits to digital traceability, RMC redefines project performance and sustainability.

How do you see Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) evolving in India’s infrastructure and urban development?
RMC is more than just a material. It’s becoming the backbone of smart, sustainable, and fast-paced construction. As India’s cities grow, environmental rules tighten, and architectural needs evolve, we see our engineered, quality-controlled RMC take over from site-mixed concrete. It’s all about consistency, quick delivery, and reliable performance.

For us, RMC isn’t just a product; it’s a carefully crafted solution that boosts project efficiency, cuts down on waste, reduces reliance on manual labour, and embraces sustainable practices like using supplementary cementitious materials, recycled water, and industrial by-products. These steps help us meet both performance and environmental goals.

With green infrastructure gaining focus, we encourage procurement managers to think beyond basic concrete and explore specialised mixes tailored to their projects. Our Ecodure range, for example, lowers the carbon footprint and helps projects earn credits for certifications like IGBC, LEED, and GRIHA. In future we see RMC evolving from a supplier role to a strategic partner, helping developers and contractors achieve construction excellence while staying environmentally responsible.

As technical leaders, what key criteria do you recommend procurement professionals look for when sourcing RMC for high-performance or specialised projects?
Procurement decisions regarding high-performance projects should go beyond just comparing prices. Concrete is a critical material, and with the RMC industry’s low entry barriers.

We’re committed to uncompromising quality. Our strict internal protocols ensure that our concrete’s integrity, performance, and durability are never sacrificed, regardless of market pressures or tight timelines.

We urge procurement professionals to partner with technically skilled RMC suppliers who provide certified quality (IS 4926, RMCMA), digital traceability, and custom mix designs. It is vital to choose suppliers who align with sustainability through low-carbon, GreenPro-certified options and offer strong on-site technical support to ensure durability, consistency, and smooth execution.

How do you tailor your RMC solutions to meet unique project specifications for metro projects, highways, high-rises, or industrial zones?
We take a project-specific approach, leveraging our expertise and technical know-how to be more than just a supplier. We’re a trusted, long-term partner.

We offer advanced concretes, such as self-compacting, structural lightweight, or early-strength mixes, that handle tight casting schedules and tough site conditions for metro and infrastructure projects. For high-rises, our Concrete—High-Performance Durable Concrete is designed for strength and durability, meeting the latest IS 16700 standards for tall structures.

Our Concreto Robuste, with compressive strengths up to M100, has been a reliable choice for major residential and infrastructure projects for over a decade. Our Artiste Polish Concrete delivers top-notch abrasion resistance and a polished finish for industrial floors. Every mix we create is fine-tuned for real-world conditions, ensuring great workability, performance, and a long service life.

How do your RMC solutions contribute to green building certifications and sustainability benchmarks like IGBC or GRIHA?
We’re passionate about sustainable construction and see RMC as a key player in creating eco-friendly, resource-efficient buildings. Our GreenPro-certified RMC solutions incorporate recycled materials and innovative mix designs like our Ecodure range to reduce carbon footprints. Through efforts like wastewater recycling at our plants, thermal-insulated concrete for energy-efficient buildings, and detailed support for green certification documentation, we’re setting new standards for sustainability in the RMC sector.

How are you preparing for future trends like carbon-neutral construction materials, circular economy practices, or AI in concrete mix optimisation?
We’re gearing up for the future by focusing on sustainability, resource circularity, and digital innovation in our RMC portfolio.

We’re developing low-carbon mixes using high-volume supplementary cementitious materials to reduce environmental impact. Our circular economy efforts include using construction and demolition waste and recycled materials in lean concrete solutions.

As the industry shifts toward smart batching and intelligent mix design, we’re excited about AI and data-driven technologies’ role in shaping RMC innovation. These efforts align with our ESG goals and commitment to responsible, future-ready construction.

What guidance do you offer procurement professionals when selecting the right cement for diverse applications, such as high-rise buildings, infrastructure projects, or precast elements?
We believe cement selection should always match the project’s performance and durability needs. For high-rises, we recommend high-performance blended cement for strength, pumpability, and long-term durability. PPC and PSC are our go-to choices for infrastructure like metros, bridges, or ports due to their low permeability and resistance to chemical attacks.

Blended cement with the right admixtures offers great workability and early strength for precast or fast-track projects. Ternary blends with GGBS or fly ash in mass concrete applications help reduce thermal stress and boost structural longevity.

We provide cement-concrete compatibility assessments to ensure optimised performance, longer service life, and alignment with sustainability goals.

What’s your vision for the RMC segment in India by 2035, and how are we positioning ourselves to lead that transformation?
By 2035, India’s RMC industry will thrive on sustainability, digitalisation, and performance-driven solutions. We’re preparing for this future with our Green Concrete portfolio, advancements in smart batching, and a strong focus on durability and circular economy practices. Our vision is to be a trusted partner in building materials industry offering innovative, future-ready RMX solutions that support India’s growing infrastructure needs.
