The company exhibited Display Controllers, I/O modules, Controllers and Sensors, at the exhibition and hinges hopes on the Road, Construction and Mining sectors to drive the CE business forward, says Harpreet Singh Wahan, General Manager – Sales & Marketing, Enovation Controls India Pvt Ltd.

Please discuss the features of the products exhibited at the expo.
Any equipment – excavator, wheel-loader, paver, dump truck, grader or even a compressor are beginning to need increased levels of technology to improve features, improve user friendliness, improve safety and provide better control. We bring in things like Machine displays, I/O Modules, Controllers, Sensors and integrate the equipment including hydraulics or safety features – simple things like camera interface, engine & transmission control, Hydraulic control etc.

Can you talk about the technologies used in these products?
From technology point of view, Murphy works with the latest in machine control and diagnostics. Our solutions and products are therefore suited for equipment with Mechanical engines to the latest Tier IV final engines. Electro-Hydraulic control is also something we bring to the equipment and as a solution provider we bring in technology that can handle the entire equipment.

How do you look at the equipment market in India for construction?
It is growing market and we believe the next three years are likely to witness 10 to 12 per cent growth year on year. 2019 can bring in some uncertainties but the market is still positive.

Which segment do you think will be most promising?
Road construction and mining segment will see good growth due to more road building and India’s dependence on coal for thermal power. Owing to government initiatives, there will definitely be a focus on building more roads. Besides, mining is a segment which should get more efficient due to our dependence on thermal power.

How are your solutions enhancing efficiency in an equipment?
We believe in providing three things to the equipment. Firstly, improving user interface making the usage comfortable for operators. Secondly, equipment, operator and workplace safety. This can include auto shutdown, enhanced control and machine intelligence. Thirdly, machine & Equipment control – Hydraulics, Engine, Transmission all working together to make the equipment more efficient.

Do you see this kind of step adding to your bottom line?
Yes. As we provide more solutions to the customers and not only products, this clears a path for them to make better equipment and work to differentiate in the marketplace. This is something we have always done and accordingly have very good OEM relationships globally.

Besides, 2018 has been good and we are looking towards a good 2019. Going ahead, there are plans to set up local integration facility in India by the mid of 2019 moving slowly to a full-fledged manufacturing in 2020.

How important is investing in R&D for your business?
We are a technology focussed company and pride ourselves in bringing to our customers the best suitable technology for the segment and their equipment. To get this done we invest a sizeable portion of our profits into product development and application knowledge. As a company we believe our people are our strength and having and taking care of the right people is a crucial part of running a successful business.

Road construction, material handling and the mining segment will see sustained growth due to focus on infrastructure and economic growth.
