F uel pricing is always a talking point in India. In construction sector more than 50 per cent of people talk about fuel efficiency. Lubricants can play a critical role in achieving fuel efficiency. Commenting on Shell’s commitment in this regard, Akhil Jha, Vice President Technical, Shell Lubricants India said, “If we can help customers to save fuel with high quality lubricants that would really be a step forward to setting the bar in industry.”

With that in mind, Shell has introduced Shell Rimula T5 E 10W30 that can save up to 3 per cent more fuel. Jha claims that a contractor can save up to Rs 2 lakhs a year from a construction or mining equipment by using this lubricant.

Shell Lubricants is one of the global majors in finished lubricants. It sells a wide variety of lubricants to meet customer needs across a range of applications. These include consumer motoring, heavy-duty transport, mining, power generation and general engineering. Shell’s portfolio of lubricant brands includes Shell Helix, Shell Rimula, and Shell Spirax.

Focus on innovation

Partnering with Tata Hitachi
Construction industry is constantly striving to meet deadlines and lower operating costs. Keeping this in mind, Shell has a wide range of lubricants and services designed to ensure reliable lubricant supply for remote projects and increased equipment availability. At Excon 2015, Shell announced its association with Tata Hitachi as the approved supplier in India. Under this association, seven Shell Lubricants products will be used across the entire Tata Hitachi product range.

Shell Lubricants’ products that have been approved by Tata Hitachi are Shell Tellus S3V 46, Shell Spirax S4 TXM, engine oils like Shell Rimula T3 15W40, Shell Rimula T4 15W40 and Shell Rimula T5 E 10W30, Shell Spirax S2G 90 gear oil and Shell Gadus S2V 220 2 grease.

According to Shell, these products will help in protecting the Tata Hitachi machineries and contribute to efficient operation by reducing lubricant consumption and lowering the maintenance cost. Following this association with Tata Hitachi, Shell Lubricants has further consolidated its presence in the Indian construction sector with product approvals from other leading OEMs including Schwing Stetter, L&T-Komatsu and Putzmeister.

Commenting on this Jha said, “At Shell Lubricants, we work closely with OEMs and customers to develop products to fit their needs. Following a series of successful trials that proved our products were an ideal match for its equipment, seven of Shell Lubricants products have been approved by Tata Hitachi to be used across its product range.”
