Shree Cement has partnered with RITES on a five-year rail infrastructure upgrade that aims to improve logistical efficiency, promote expansion, and enhance sustainability through end-to-end project execution and regulatory support.
Shree Cement has signed a five-year strategic partnership agreement with RITES, a public sector organisation under the Ministry of Railways, to improve its rail infrastructure. The collaboration intends to create a strong, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation network to support Shree Cement’s growing production presence in India.
Under this memorandum of understanding (MoU), RITES will provide complete, end-to-end services for upgrading, renovating, and establishing new rail links, from project conception to final commissioning. These will increase the transportation of raw materials and finished commodities within Shree Cement’s network while considerably reducing environmental impact. Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement, underlined the importance of this relationship in ensuring effective logistics.
The MoU, which can be extended by mutual agreement, also includes RITES’ support in getting regulatory clearances from the Ministry of Railways and other relevant organisations. This comprises approvals for civil construction, overhead electrical, signalling, telecom, and mechanical components. RITES will contribute to the contractor selection process by analysing and certifying executing agencies during tenders.
