Exports to 10 countries worldwide, 7000 plus machines on site every year, 150 plus well-trained engineers and technicians, 20 national and international awards, 4000 plus satisfied customers and many more such milestones make one globe, one player- Spartan.
Spartan Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd was founded in the year 1971 and has forayed in to the field of manufacturing and supplying construction equipment in the year 2005. Since its five decades of existence in Engineering Industry, Spartan has become a leading Indian MNC in construction Equipment Manufacturing.
Spartan is a Mumbai based leading ISO 9001 2015 and CE certified manufacturer and supplier of high quality construction machineries and equipments like bar bending and cutting machines, passenger and material hoists, multi functional hoists, rope suspended and lift shaft platforms, mini-lifts, firemen and fire evacuation lifts and concrete boom placers.
Infrastructure being in Engineering Industry and being a leader in manufacturing Construction Equipment, calls for mammoth and advanced production unit. Spartan boasts of State-of-the-Art manufacturing facility at Atgaon on Mumbai-Nashik highway and Navi Mumbai. These plants are fully equipped with world class equipment to manufacture an array of construction machineries and Fire Evacuation Lifts. It is spread across 5 acres with 1 lakh Sq.ft. build-up shed and office. The production facility covers fabrication, production assembly, testing, R&D, design and development and spares management and despatch.
Operational excellence in production
In Spartan’s factory 5S system is strictly followed and periodic internal audits are maintained. For operations, environment and personal safety, Spartan has achieved ISO 14001:2015 for Environment Management System and OSHAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Safety & Health Analysis System. Spartan has won many awards like ‘Excellence in Operations Award’ by ‘Manufacturing Today’ and ‘Sarvottam manufacturer of Rebar Cut and Bend machines and Suspended Platform’ by BAI for operational excellence. Material Storage arrangement is done in accordance with FIFO system and ABC analysis.
Min-Max level is also maintained for optimum inventory. The storage of each part is identified with specific location and codification for assembly which is followed by workers mandatorily.
Design and development
Spartan’s Design and Development team consists of 20+ dedicated professionals with expertise in Engineering Design and Development. The design team uses SolidWorks for 3D solid model design, static and dynamic analysis Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of machine components and documentation. This ensures strength and reliability of all components and thereby gives the customer peace of mind.
Design Engineers study the structural, static and dynamic load requirement, load deflection characteristics and working conditions of the end application. Entire structure of machine has been designed on basis of FEA study by considering various loading conditions to ensure the life, reliability and safety.
Vikram Mehta, Managing Director, said “Our new premium range of ‘Elite Aviator’, single and twin cage, man and material hoists is manufactured as per CE certified standards. The product offers a high level of safety features developed by our R&D team. The cage of the hoist has comparatively less vibration due to its six-module rack. This ensures more engagement of the rack with the teeth. As the masts are of square tube, we have used flat rollers which have full line contact with the mast tube, thereby making the movement smoother.
Our design engineers have studied the structural, static and dynamic load requirements, load deflection characteristics and working conditions of the end applications while designing the Eite Aviator. The entire structure of the machine has been designed on the basis of finite element analysis considering various loading conditions to fully ensure safety and reliability of the products during its functioning.”
Innovations in the hoists include fitment of cable trolley for cable safety and increased life. European design safety device ensures the highest level of protection against free fall of the hoists. Limit switches, fully accessible from cage are provided to prevent over travel of the machine for safe operation. A unique feature is the optional load cell assembly for overload protection, and a touch screen based human machine interface to select floor numbers with fault indication shown on display.
The single cage Elite Elevator hoists are available between 2.5 tons to 0.8 tons, while the twin cage hoists comes between 2.5 to 1.5 tons. Spartan also has a new range of concrete boom placers which it will promote in the Indian market. According to Mehta, Spartan has expanded its sales and services network to tap the export markets in a major way, and are also increasing its dealer network for the domestic market.
