How do you guide procurement teams in selecting the right material for specific applications like high-rise buildings, industrial units, or infrastructure networks?
Our approach to material selection is fundamentally rooted in application-specific needs and engineering aspects. We guide procurement teams by first understanding the nature of the project, whether residential, commercial, or industrial, and then assessing the specific requirements of the application, such as the type of fluid being transported, operating pressure and temperature, and any site-specific challenges. Based on these factors, we recommend the most suitable piping material. This ensures long-term performance, safety, and reliability while optimising costs. By working closely with consultants and developers, we help simplify the decision-making process and ensure the right system is selected for the project.

Can you highlight the key features of your Nu-Drain system and how this has helped resolve challenges in underground drainage applications?
The Supreme Nu-Drain system represents a major advancement in underground drainage and sewerage technology. It is a readymade solution comprising inspection chambers, manholes, and solid-wall and structured-wall pipes along with the required fittings and accessories. One of its most valuable features is its leak-proof performance, which prevents contamination of groundwater and eliminates the risks associated with seepage and structural damage to buildings. Besides being lightweight and highly durable, the system offers superior hydraulic properties that ensure efficient flow. Its easy and quick installation also helps in reducing the time and costs of projects. The system is chemically inert, providing high resistance to corrosion and biological scaling, resulting in a maintenance-free system with a long service life. Thus, Nu-Drain overcomes all the challenges associated with conventional products, such as leakages, breakages, blockages, and frequent maintenance requirements, making it a comprehensive and future-ready solution for sustainable infrastructure.

What role does R&D play in your product development process, especially in areas like leak-proof joining technology, pressure rating optimisation, or flow efficiency?
At Supreme, Research and Development is at the core of our innovation strategy. Our in-house R&D team plays a pivotal role in the conceptualisation, development, and validation of newer and more efficient piping products and systems. Our team identifies areas for improvement and innovation by regularly analysing market needs and trends, technical challenges, and customer feedback. This includes improving jointing techniques, developing new material formulations, improving hydraulic performance, and ensuring product durability under demanding conditions. 

We have established a Research & Development–Raw Material Application Centre near Pune to pioneer innovation and quality enhancement in raw material applications. This facility focuses on proactive research and development, addressing challenges, optimising performance, and fostering excellence in characterisation, analysis, and benchmarking.

These focused R&D efforts have enabled us to introduce several pioneering and patented products that offer improved functionality, ease of installation, and longevity, effectively setting new benchmarks in the industry.

Could you give us insight into your in-house testing infrastructure and how it supports compliance with BIS, ASTM, or ISO standards?
We maintain a state-of-the-art in-house testing infrastructure that adheres to the highest national and international quality standards, including BIS, ASTM, and ISO. Our laboratories conduct rigorous testing at multiple stages, from raw material evaluation to final product testing. This includes hydrostatic pressure testing, impact resistance testing, stiffness testing, thermal stability evaluations, stress relief, VST, and potability tests, among others. Our aim is not just to meet the minimum standard requirements but to exceed them. Every batch undergoes a thorough inspection, and we maintain internal benchmarks that are often more stringent than the required norms. We also conduct special performance tests tailored to specific applications, which further validate the product’s strength in critical conditions. This exhaustive testing protocol ensures that our customers receive piping systems that are not only reliable and safe but also built to perform consistently over their expected service life.

In the context of cable management and electrical infrastructure, how are products like CableGUARD and CableShield positioned to meet modern-day demands of safety, flexibility, and longevity?
As urban infrastructure becomes increasingly complex, the demand for robust cable protection systems has grown significantly. We offer two specialised solutions to address this need: CableGUARD and CableShield. 

CableGUARD is a double-wall corrugated (DWC) high-density polyethylene pipe system designed specifically for underground cable protection. With a corrugated outer wall for strength and a smooth inner wall for easy cable pulling, it ensures excellent mechanical strength, flexibility, and resistance to external loads. It is widely used in applications such as smart cities, railways, highways, telecom networks, and airports.

CableShield, on the other hand, is our range of high-quality uPVC electrical conduits and fittings. Manufactured from virgin PVC compounds, these conduits are ideal for concealed and surface wiring installations. They offer superior resistance to heat, corrosion, impact, and chemicals, making them suitable for use in commercial and residential buildings. Both systems are manufactured in compliance with Indian and international standards, ensuring high performance and safety across all applications. Together, CableGUARD and CableShield provide a complete solution for the safe and long-lasting installation of electrical and communication cables in modern infrastructure.

What’s your message for builders, contractors, and engineers who still rely on traditional or sub-standard piping systems, especially in critical applications like drinking water or firefighting?
The construction and plumbing industry is at a critical juncture, where newer, more advanced alternatives are increasingly replacing traditional materials. Our message to builders, contractors, and plumbing engineers is that the shift from conventional piping materials such as GI, CI, DI, stoneware, and R.C.C., etc. to more advanced plastic piping systems is not just a trend; it is a necessity for achieving long-term reliability, efficiency, and sustainability along with cost savings. Traditional products and systems are prone to corrosion, leakage, scaling, short and uncertain lifespans, and frequent maintenance. In contrast, our advanced and innovative plastic piping systems—whether uPVC, CPVC, PERT, HDPE etc. —are corrosion-free, lightweight, easy to install, and designed to perform under various temperatures, pressures, and extreme conditions.

DWC (Double Wall Corrugated) Pipes used for underground drainage and sewerage applications offer multiple benefits over conventional concrete pipes and solid-wall plastic pipes. However, long-term superior performance is only possible if virgin material is used in their production. If, for commercial reasons, one does not adhere to this fundamental requirement and uses regrind or scrap material, the performance and lifespan of DWC Pipes deteriorate significantly.
