By employing KIS Group’s cutting-edge technology, TKIL Industries intends to drive long-term breakthroughs in renewable energy while extending its Bio-Chemical portfolio.
TKIL Industries (previously Thyssenkrupp Industries India), a prominent industrial engineering and manufacturing company, has announced its expansion into the Bio-Chemicals industry as part of its planned business diversification. As part of this endeavour, the business has teamed with KIS Group, a global pioneer in sustainable biofuel technology, to develop compressed biogas (CBG) technology to help India and the rest of the world achieve its energy transition and decarbonisation goals. Through this collaboration, TKIL Industries will use KIS Group’s cutting-edge technology to drive innovation and maximise CBG production from sugar plant wastes, distilleries, and other biomass, establishing the groundwork for a larger Bio-Chemical business portfolio.
This collaboration with KIS Group is an important step towards expanding TKIL Industries’ Bio-Chemicals portfolio, which will also look into additional clean energy fuels soon. The move to accelerate CBG production and commercialisation underscores TKIL Industries’ commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and developing clean energy options. This collaboration also supports India’s ambitious objective of lowering carbon emissions by 50 percent and achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030, which reinforces TKIL Industries’ ambition of creating a brighter world.
Talking about the association and entering the bio-chemicals sector, Vivek Bhatia, Managing Director and CEO of TKIL Industries, says, “As part of our strategic growth initiatives, we are entering the bio-chemicals sector to drive sustainable advancements. Our partnership with KIS Group represents a significant milestone in our commitment to a low-carbon future. By leveraging our joint capabilities, we aim to accelerate the development of CBG as part of our Bio-Chemicals business portfolio while evaluating opportunities in other cleaner chemicals.”
While highlighting the technology expertise, Raghunath, Founder and CEO, KIS Group, states, “We are excited to tie up with TKIL Industries to advance CBG as a scalable and sustainable solution for India and the world. By integrating our state-of-the-art technology with TKIL Industries’ expertise in manufacturing and industrial project execution, this association is poised to make a significant impact on India’s energy transition, driving innovation and sustainability in the sector.”
While commenting on leveraging advanced technology for scalable solutions, Anmol Mudholkar, Director – Sugar, Cogen and Bio-Chemicals, TKIL Industries, states, “This association is dedicated to developing scalable and integrated biomass solutions, providing a cleaner and more sustainable alternative for industrial processes across the sugar, bio-chemicals, and other key industrial sectors.”
With rising demand for renewable energy, the sector is moving away from traditional fossil fuel usage and towards a more sustainable approach. Biogas generation from press mud, spent wash, animal waste, napier grass, and other biomass is consistent with India’s renewable energy targets, providing both economic and environmental benefits. Recognising its potential, the government is actively facilitating this transformation through various laws and initiatives. Biogas adoption is no longer an option for industries; it is a strategic need for increasing competitiveness, reducing waste, and contributing to a cleaner future.
