Chembond offers innovative, durable, cost effective, easy to maintain flooring system for car parking area
Parking has become a vital part of today’s mobile world with more vehicles on the road than ever before. As a result, the demand for parking is at an all-time high with vehicle owners searching for secure and safe environments to house their vehicles.
The suitability of deck coating materials will depend on where within the multi-level or underground parking facility they are to be installed as well as the conditions to which the coating will be subjected.
The required properties of car parking system can be slip-resistance, durability and service life requirements through to temperature cycling, UV exposure and any problematic existing substrate conditions as well as any anticipated movement within the structure.
By using Chembond car park flooring system, you can get rid of paver blocks used in car parking causing water sipping inside, noise of undulated and loosen blocks, fungus developed in joints of blocks, frequent replacement of these blocks.
Epoxy and polyurethane resin based car park decking and wearing systems are most common. Resin systems are installed at various thicknesses dependent on the specification to protect the substrate and to improve aesthetics and safety.
Car parks are subject to unique conditions, which demand deck coating systems proven beyond doubt in the protection of buildings subject to multi-traffic movement.
Applied coatings must perform to meet the most stringent of criteria if they are to succeed in their primary function of car park protection. Non-protection of any car park, will inevitably lead to long term maintenance increased operations costs and in extreme cases, deck failure.
The following are various selection criteria that must be considered before selecting, specifying and installing a protective car park deck coating solution:
• Exposure to sun
• Chemical exposure
• Wear and abrasion
• Temperature variation
• Substrate condition
• Life and durability.
Chembond Chemicals has come up with two car parking systems: KemCar Park PU, and KemCar Park EP.
Difference between epoxy and polyurethane based car parking system is as follows:
• Epoxy floors are harder, more durable and have much higher compression strength than polyurethanes.
• Polyurethane floors are usually softer and more elastic, which makes them more resistant to scratching as their elasticity tends to absorb some of the impact.
• Polyurethane floors can be easily modified to extend or limit their pot life, re-coat time as well as the total curing time this allows less waiting time to end customer.
Surface preparation and application
Examining surface: The existing surface has to be examined for correct car parking system as it will play significant role in durability, moisture content, strength, and profile. Also chemical, oil grease, and spillage need to be examined for any treatment before installation of car parking system. Any deep crack needs to be filled with appropriate material.
Surface preparation
• Surface has to be free from oil, grease, contaminants, mud, and loose bonded concrete need to be removed.
• Completely remove loose concrete, dust dirt from contaminated floor.
• Prepare surface by mechanical means as blast cleaning grinding.

For Ramp Area
The highest volumes of traffic are encountered on ramps because these are the only way to access parking decks. Coating systems therefore need to be particularly hard-wearing. At the same time, they have to provide good grip to prevent accidents resulting from skidding. In this context, robust resin based coatings have proven to increase grip, often in conjunction with the spreading of road grit or similar materials.
