Trelleborg Group, a Swedish engineering company, plans to invest in a new production facility for sealing solutions in India. This investment will replace existing facilities expected to reach full capacity soon. Trelleborg Group’s decision to invest in India is part of its strategic plan to strengthen positions in profitable industries and geographic areas.
India is one of the world’s largest markets, and Trelleborg Group has been operating in the country for over 40 years. The Indian market has shown strong growth over the past decade, and Trelleborg now generates annual sales of about SEK 600 M in the country. The new production facility will increase production capacity by more than 60% compared to the current facilities. The facility will be built on land acquired in the Bangalore area and will incorporate sustainable features such as solar panels, energy efficiency, green transportation, and adequate water management.
The production equipment will be upgraded, and the new facility will be able to meet future demands for efficient production processes and sustainability. The production in the new facility is expected to commence in the first half of 2026, and the company plans to invest approximately SEK 300 M between 2023 and 2026.
The production of automotive boots will be significantly strengthened after the acquisition of a market leader in the country. Trelleborg also has an IT centre and a centre of excellence in India that delivers engineering support to Trelleborg’s global offices for marine systems and infrastructure products.
The investment will increase production capacity and incorporate sustainable features, which aligns with Trelleborg Group’s commitment to sustainability.
