Liquid applied systems are easy to apply and user friendly for waterproofing of a roof of a power plant.
Presently there is lot of technologies in use in the construction chemical market. People are inclined towards liquid applied waterproofing systems. Different waterproofing systems or products are used for different parts of a structure namely the roof, basement or walls, the location, climatic conditions; usability of a structure would determine the system to be used.
Hasan Rizvi, Vice President, STP Ltd states, “STP Ltd is the market leader engaged in manufacturing of waterproofing products for the past 80 years and has an in-house R&D division to develop products as per Indian climatic condition. STP Ltd is also known to be pioneers in innovative technologies.”
User-friendly systems
Talking about the positive impacts of liquid applied waterproofing systems, Rizvi says, “Liquid applied systems are easy to apply and user friendly for waterproofing of a roof of a power plant. They can be applied on any shaped surface. There are no joints, hence chance of failure are significantly reduced. The infrastructure sector has shown inclination towards liquid applied systems.”
STP’s range of products
A manufacturer, supplier and exporter of a range of construction and waterproofing products, STP Ltd, an ISO 9001:2000 certified company offers road surfacing products, which also includes road making paints.
Firstly known for waterproofing or damp proofing with a range of water proofing membranes, STP provides chemical-based waterproofing products.
STP has a range of products for the waterproofing segment, starting with ShaliPlast LW+ an integral waterproofing compound. ShaliCrete, an acrylic polymer cementitious waterproof coating, superthermolay APP are preformed membrane.
STP introduces new products and liquid applied waterproofing systems. ShaliUrethane BTD, Shaliurethane LHM, a single component elastomeric modified PU liquid waterproofing membrane, ShaliCem EWP is a two component cementitious elastomeric coating.
Shaliseal RSTC – more durable, effective
Rizvi feels there is another market segment which requires a different technology in India and that is the road segment. Specialised sealer coat for flexible pavements is required so that bitumen retains its property for a longer time.
Shaliseal RSTC is a coal tar based emulsion which is more durable and more effective than bitumen. Coal tar is more resistant to petrol, kerosene and diesel, while bitumen gets dissolved completely in the solvents. It has better gas resistance properties and better scrub resistance than bitumen. Water re-absorption property of coal tar is less than bitumen. Coal tars, in some respects, are similar to asphalts, but they are more temperature susceptible than asphalts. Coal tar is petroleum and water resistant, is less permeable, provide a better seal, and, particularly, have good resistance to fuel spillage. Shaliseal RSTC helps to increase the life of the roads and can be used as preventive maintenance.
