Dheeraj Panda, Chief Operating Officer (Sales, Marketing & Customer Support) Sany Heavy Industry. In an interview with B2B Purchase.
What are the key features of your products and solutions that make them smarter and greener?
Looking into the technological advancements, we have taken a step with Sany’s Telematics system (EVI), which helps monitor the key operational parameters and provide timely intimation to the users. This EVI app helps customers and OEMs monitor every machine’s operation and act swiftly on any issues, thereby enhancing agility.
At Sany India, we have successfully embraced the Bharat CEV Stage IV norms and upgraded and launched new truck cranes and motor graders in the market. Adhering to the new emission norms, the new truck cranes have been manufactured at Sany India’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Chakan in Pune to support the government’s “Make in India” initiative and, most importantly, to regulate and decrease emissions. Our equipment has been showing good traction in the market, led by road and infrastructural construction, refinery expansions, railway and metro projects, and waterways, etc. To meet the surging demand, we plan to launch more new products in the near future, complying with CEV Stage IV emissions.
Tell us about the most recent technologies and solutions you’ve implemented. How is your organisation responding to the changing client requirements?
Technology must be incorporated into machines so as to achieve optimum cost effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity. Innovative tools, construction equipment, and machinery will reshape the industry as our adoption of emerging technologies gains pace. To improve the efficiency and quality of construction, there has been an increase in the use of telematics, automation, and machine control technologies.
With a general shift in the construction equipment industry towards newer technologies and digitisation, we have planned to introduce a new range of technologically advanced equipment in 2022. Many of our new generation machines will be manufactured in India as part of the “Make in India” initiative, and they will be different from other existing options due to their special design based on different applications, which will offer tremendous scope in terms of versatility, reliability, and overall performance.
Looking at the market opportunities and the push towards infrastructural development, what plans do you have to encash the opportunities?
Sustained growth of urbanisation, major on-going national highway projects, and most importantly, the government’s steadfast focus on infrastructural development are driving huge demands for construction equipment. We are already seeing high demand for construction equipment like hydraulic excavators, mobile cranes, piling rigs, motor graders, etc. Apart from this, equipment is also extensively sought-after in various projects, including mining, shipping, oil & gas, railways, and the power industry.
Moving ahead, the thrust will be on technology without compromising on the user-friendly aspect of the machines. All in all, we want to offer the best-in-class equipment, like we have been doing since inception, so as to retain our position as a market leader and aid in the infrastructural development of our country.
What are your projections for the construction/mining equipment in India?
We are witnessing a remarkable growth in the mining sector especially after the introduction of mining reforms. This has certainly spurred the demands for mining equipment in the CE industry. The reopening of the economy and an optimistic outlook by investors and consumers will further accelerate our growth prospects.
