Why energy saving?

Given the global concern about diminishing resources and high prices of energy, industries and municipal corporations are seriously finding out the ways of energy saving in their plants. It is no wonder that there is an increasing interest in the energy efficiency of aerators in ETP/STP, which is a non-productive plant. Environ helps the industries and municipal corporations in saving energy in these aeration systems offering guaranteed results with minimum energy consumption.
Environ had developed, tested, manufactured, installed and successfully commissioned the energy efficient aerators in many industries offering definite results. Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan is an award winner at National Level for Energy Savings. It was keen to find out the scope of energy saving. In one of the major STPs of 52 MLD at Tarsali, the company was running 8 in nos. 60 HP aerators. On finding out the possibility of energy saving at Tarsali STP, Environ Engineering was contacted to find out the scope of energy saving in aeration system, which were consuming total 480 HP i.e. 360 KW having the expenses of Rs.360 x 6 = Rs.2,160/- per hour x 24 hours = Rs. 51,840/- expenses per day.
On studying the characteristics of the Tarsali STP, Environ recommended to install 8 in nos. 30 HP Environ energy efficient aerators. By installing these, the municipal corporation will be saving energy of 240 HP i.e. 180 KW x 6 x 24 = ` 25,920/- per day and also the maintenance cost of old 60 HP aerators installed. Not only monetary saving, but also prevented conversion of 162 kg. per hour of CO2 in the atmosphere and also saved the coal of 540 tonnes per year which was to be used for generation of 180 KW electricity saved by VMSS.
Further to save more energy in the same plant Environ recommended for VFD (Variable Frequency Drive). On installing the VFD, the VMSS will run the aerators on full load on peak hours i.e. say from 4 AM to 12 PM i.e. 8 hours and from 6 PM to 10 PM i.e. 4 hours i.e. Total 12 hours. VMSS will run the aerators on 30 HP x 8 nos. and 12 hours on 20 HP x 8 nos. in normal hours. So, the additional saving to VMSS will be 180 KW x 12 hrs = 2,160 KW + 120 KW x 12 hrs = 1,440 KW i.e. Total 3,600 KW per day instead of 4,320 KW per day. So, additional electricity saving will be 720 KW per day. So, the total saving will be 5,040 KW per day i.e. total monetary saving of Rs. 30,240/- per day and additional benefit of maintenance, saving of coal.
The 30 HP Environ energy efficient aerators installed having unique features due to which the maintenance is also low in these aerators compared to the old aerators.
Secondly, the life of Environ energy efficient aerators is 12 – 15 years with minimal maintenance.
