Ashok Khemlani, Founder, Clean India Group shares his views on the industry and trends across the world in façade access and maintenance business.
Why clean tall buildings
The buildings be it offices, residential or institutions are generally the biggest assets that organisations and individuals own. These assets must be looked after because of the huge investments made in them. Facade cleaning equipment are a value addition system which helps the builder maintain what is constructed.
Most of the customers today want to buy their space only when the building is ready. In order to sell spaces in a ready building, a very important factor which affects the building’s marketability is its cleanliness. The glass, stone or metal facade used in the building would look dirty if not cleaned on a regular basis. The reason a customer buys the property is its visual appeal which would get adversely affected due to inadequate or irregular cleaning.
In case of hotel rooms, people prefer having a clear view from their room, staying the night and waking up to a fresh, clean view. Some people prefer the curtains drawn, however, when the curtain is opened, and if the glass is stained, it won’t be a good impression made by the hotelier.
Many a times, glass is provided only on the staircase of a residential building. This helps in making the steps visible if people are running down the staircase in the wake of a power failure, or any other emergency. Considering this reason, it is important for the glass to be kept squeaky clean. Apart from this, glass facade also helps in tackling heat within the building by bouncing back the sun rays which hit the glass. If not kept clean, the facade will not serve any of its purposes.
Popularity should not cost you
The value which is expected for your assets is immense. In case of our two companies, we have never looked at the percentage of return on investments. We have always valued the quality of our products, development of new products, relations with the clients, timely completions in case of Cradle Runways. In TechnoClean, we are providing the service and from the outset we have believed in our own employees and never sub-contracted. We have looked after our employees as our key asset and have always complied with all the labour laws. We believe in timely payments, quality of the work and above all in safety of our employees. Having inculcated in them the culture of quality working and safe practices, we also deploy safety officers and safety consultants.
While we comply with our own health and safety standards, we also comply with the health and safety standards of the large companies we are associated with.
Becoming conscious of cleanliness
As technology is advancing and the world is being developed, appliances like washing machines, dish washers, etc have been introduced to ensure better cleanliness in lesser time. In case of a hotel building, it is more or less mandatory to clean the glass facade as the
guests expect a clean facade and a better view from their room. Clean facades add to the specifications of a building. It not only makes the building look attractive, but also enhances its marketability. The future of developing India lies in cleanliness and we’re doing our part for the facades.
