Gravel, plasticizers, unimix, readymix concrete
Cement is a material used for bonding other materials together, and as a binder in concrete. The term cement is most commonly used to refer more specifically to powdered materials which develop strong adhesive qualities when combined with water. These materials are more properly known as hydraulic cements.
Concrete is a composite building material made from the combination of aggregate and a cement binder. The most common form of concrete consists of Portland cement, mineral aggregates (generally gravel and sand) and water.
Gravel is rock that is of a certain grain size range. In geology, gravel is any loose rock that is at least two millimeters in its largest dimension (about 1/12 of an inch) and no more than 75 millimeters (about 3 inches). Sometimes gravel is restricted to rock in the 2-4 millimeter range, with pebble being reserved for rock 4-75 millimeters (some say 64 millimeters).
Plasticizers are chemical additives added to concrete to increase the workability of concrete. This is done without altering the water cement ratio. The strength of the concrete will not be affected.
Ready-mix concrete is a type of concrete that is manufactured in a factory according to a set recipe, and then delivered to a worksite, often by truck. This results in a precise mixture, allowing specialty concrete mixtures to be developed and implemented on construction sites.
